Larkin seemed so “meh” in the televised shift change when speaking about how they were playing. Didn’t seem like a fired up captain and not what I’d call inspirational or motivating. He’s been great for us in patches this season but the guy needs to be a consistent bar for the team.

Tbh I think half of Raymonds struggles have been a lack luster center. Sorry I said it. Captain has not been playing hard out of the gates and setting the tone. Yes he is putting team on his back in (some) games, but it is in the 2nd half. See more diving than driving from larkin so far. Hard take/hot take, but he whined last year they didnt get a spark and absolutely the guy who should be providing it!
Larkin sucks right now, hate to say it but if he cant engage physically and stop diving looking for penalties they need to trade him. He cant be a no show for as long as he has been, and if its an injury, it doesnt matter because that means hes injured again around the same time of the year and has become a liability for this team. Hes not skating ou there literally as soon as he gets the puck hes looking for someone else to give the puck to, thats not larkin at his best. Im not even sure what larkin at his best looks like anymore.

I see Rasmussen back to his old self of not checking not scoring and being 3 steps behind. Rasmussen needs to sit out for a few games.

How are the Redwings not excited about their position in the standings and have the confidence to bring a decent performance ? It was the kind of ugly performance that undermines hopes in them becoming a playoff team this year

Being realistic… its impossible to win nearly every game, unless your this years Avs. But the Pens smothered the Wings this game, but it's not the end of the season just yet. As long as thus isn't the beginning of a downward spiral… I still have faith.

Reversion to the mean is a real thing. This team is much improved over last year, but others have improved at least as much. I am concerned that the Olympic games could take a real toll on Larkin, Raymond and Seider. Think on what happens if we lose even one of these guys. And two of them are already showing real signs of physical deterioration in my mind.

The Wings can't continue being this way and making excuses losing games like this to a rival like the Pens. There's no excuse for playing the way the Wings did, regardless of their 1st place standing….
