  1. I love both guys. They are both rocks for this team. I would hate to see them go, but it makes sense to move them for long term success.

  2. I just don't realistically see a world where he trades these guys while they're in a playoff position. That might prove to be a mistake, but if you're getting a Brock Nelson-esque return for both of them, I don't think it's worth sending a message to the room that their efforts this year have resulted in their heart-and-soul guys getting dealt. Pre-Lou I would've never had this take, but post-Lou I'm a bit higher on "culture" than I used to be.

  3. I understand we're playing well and overperforming to expectations, but sights should be set on what this team could be in 2-4 years, not if we can make the playoffs and maybe win a round this year. I'd rather be a cup contender medium/long-term than have a short-term feel-good story to enjoy.

  4. Trading Pageau while we’re in 2nd place in the Metro would be the first seed planted in our quest to make sure Schaefer peaces out at some point. Just a great move that surely would piss the entire roster off.

This isn’t Tavares where you can’t lose him for nothing. We’re talking about a late 1st. Is that really worth it? Let the boys play.

  5. Agree with the comment below. Trading these two as we are in playoff contention is just the first bad taste we can put in Schaefer's mouth. I wouldn't trade any assets this year for a rental player or anything, but I also wouldn't give any indication to our young kids that we are throwing the towel in as we are playing well. It's a bad move for culture and winning mentality long term. People ignore that when they think about team building. You can't.
