He's gotta go. He don't fit here. Nothing against him but he won't play here anymore barring a ton of injuries. Time for a change of scenery. Get whatever we can for him, even if its a draft pick that we can package with other assets closer to the deadline.
Amazing to consider that Kotkaniemi had six goals for Montreal in 2020 & five goals in 2021. Yet Don Waddell invested $45m across the next nine seasons for this player? The level of mismanagement & incompetence exhibited by the Hurricanes front office in this situation is literally off the charts mind boggling. RBA was finally at the end of his rope & made it clear that the organization only expected KK to win draws, play a focused & responsible game defensively, & provide a consistent level of effort & physicality on the fourth line. And as it turns out he was incapable of even doing that. The biggest problem with this player has always been his father's influence over his career and KK's refusal to adhere to the advice & direction given to him by the coaching staff both in Montreal & Raleigh.
