  1. Ehh I don’t really care. Personally I think 4v4 was so much more interesting

  2. Last time I checked 3 on 3 OT and the shootout didn’t have anything to do with hoisting the Stanley cup.

    Edited for clarity

No 3v3 or shootouts in the playoffs. We are so far ahead in the league, why would the team focus on this aspect of the game at all? Any practice time needs to be spent working on things that matter, like the power play. A bad PP in the playoffs WILL cost a team the cup. How they do 3v3 will not.

It is pretty infuriating to watch but in the end, it just doesn’t matter that much. We’re not relying on those extra points like teams like the ducks are (they’d be near the bottom of the west without that 6-0 SO record and just a few more losses in the OTs they’ve been to).

If it means messing with his 5v5 play, I say don’t fuck with mack’s process to get a few meaningless points

  5. I think our biggest issue this year is how he parks himself on the left hash in the offensive zone on the PP. the few times we play with more fluidity it felt way more dangerous. He’s too dynamic to be an Ovi type who just stands there and waits for a one timer. He should be circling all over the ice creating chaos and opening up passing lanes.

Mack should be a face-off machine and guaranteed Power Play point producer over anything else, nobody cares about 3 v 3 regular season OT that is something that coaches can spend a little bit of their time on if they so choose, but players should be practicing things to help at 5 on 5 and doing a lot more work to fix the Power Play, nothing else should matter to the core players on this roster than fixing the PP.

  7. OT and shootouts are pointless. Practice the power play and get ready for play-offs.

they need to be playing val, colton and brindley in Ot. nate was gassed the other night. i was at the game and he was cooked. tell me colton who only played 12 minutes or brindley who only played 6 weren’t a better option for half of nate’s ot time on ice. he miss handled the puck multiple times and just looked done for

  9. I’d like to see a change too. Obviously we all love Mack, and he’s earned his spot out there in OT, of course… but my concern is that he seemingly refuses to adjust/change his mindset in certain game scenarios. Some of his PP choices in certain situations are questionable too, like forcing passes that aren’t there when he has a quality shooting opportunity. So I would like to see HIM change his game when it’s necessary instead of just swapping him off the top line in OT.

  10. What you’re failing to consider is that MacK plays over 20 mins a night, especially if it’s a close game and 3v3 overtime requires expending a lot of energy because of the amount of open ice available. For the Anaheim game, he played over 29 minutes, which is insane for a forward.

Obviously, it would be ideal if MacK did all of those things you mentioned. But when you’re playing 20+ mins per night and relied upon as much as he is, I’m not going to nitpick him for being a bit sloppy in OT.

Halfway joking halfway not, any time we see Nate out there in OT (and especially if he’s out there with Necas) my husband and I scream “JARED BEDNAR SEND THAT MAN TO THE LOCKER ROOM”

  12. GratefullyDead34

To me 3×3 highlights a bigger offensive issue they have. Enter the zone and pull up/circle back. Every time, doesn’t matter who has the puck. When they play a team who likes to play an open style it’s no issue but when they match up vs a team who mucks it up and plays a slow game they struggle. Theres no offense off dump and chase. That’s how we lose a playoff series.

  13. Effective-Car-3736

IMO MacK has got to be more selfish. He’s always passing to set up the perfect play. Just shoot the damn puck man, you’re really good at it

  14. My_Fathers_Gay

No he doesn’t. Once regulation is over it’s a gimmick coin flip after that. Who cares….now if the AVS were a bubble team trying to get it yeah I’d say it could help. But 3v3 isn’t a thing when the hockey means something so I think it’s ok for now.

  15. Not really. His 5v5 numbers are off the charts. The dumbass 3v3 doesn’t exist when it matters.

  16. aflyingsquanch

Not worried at all and honestly, I think the biggest issue is he’s a bit smoked by the time OT is terrible due to the amount of ice time he had during regulation.

It is what it is and it wont be a factor come playoff time.

  17. He’s on pace for like 150 points this year. I don’t think he’s gotta adjust much. He takes chances in OT. Sometimes it pays off. Sometimes it gives a break the other way. That’s 3 on 3 hockey.

  18. I’m pretty sure Mack has brought up OT in an interview before. The guy is playing 25 minutes of high intensity hockey against the best lines, driving the plat. By the time OT rolls around he’s exhausted. He takes risks in OT because he gets rewarded much of the time. He doesn’t need to change anything IMO.

  19. Maleficent-Ear-2450

Whether it’s the actual case or not, Nate looked downright disinterested in the last few overtimes.

  20. MissWonder420

I agree it is mostly a moot point however seeing him skate straight at guys when it’s 3 on 3 makes me so confused. Dude, there is plenty of space, just use it!

  21. ObiWan_Cannoli_

3v3 mackinnon go brrr and you take the good with the bad. Reg season OT is pond hockey man.

  22. mlpr92-29-96

I’d rather he focus on the PP tbh… we’ve seen it cost them games and a series in the playoffs.

  23. 5 on 5 this team rocks. PP needs work. 3 on 3 OT. is not great but. SO sucks and is a automatic hit the showers loss. Playoff OT will be fine for that is 5 on 5. No SO in playoff as well. So main concern is PP. That needs to be the focus. All is opinion that does not mean shit. I do not play hockey. I do not coach hockey. So no qualification in hockey besides observation. GO AVS!

  24. Think-Bed9627

Once we’ve reached OT in regular season games I no longer care. We’ve gotten a point and the format of OT and shootouts are useless for playoff team skill sets, and most of the time it’s not nearly as entertaining as OT should be.

And with that in mind, with the season he’s having and his production right now, there is no way in hell that I would agree with any idea suggesting he needs to be better at anything.

  25. BlueHeron359

And Blackwood needs to wake the f up. He is no longer our #1 goalie.
