  1. The problem is leaf fans are over attached to players and can't stand losing so the team always just becomes a barely competitive team to tease the fan base to fork over money. We aren't a patient fan base and any thought put to taking a step back is usually not acceptable. To be a winning franchise we are going to need to take steps back and retool. Don't use a hammer when you need a wrench. That's what we've been doing since day one and it only ends in failure.

  2. 19:05 As a Canucks fan, I'm finding it super easy to be a fan this season. I've fully embraced the fact that they probably won't win many games, but that change is coming (and in some aspects, big change has already come). The top three picks in the draft this year are so tantalizing. They've never HAD a first overall pick because for decades, they've refused to tear it down to the studs and re-sheet the team. FINALLY, they appear to be doing it. To me, that is the epitome of "doing something."

Not sure if anyone else noticed the hockey gloves he was wearing, but I want to believe he went out there to punch the sh!t out of a few trees with those gloves. lol

And I now have a bit more respect for Brad.

  3. Idk how anyone thought hiring the world champion of signing old dudes to too much, too long was going to push the Leafs over the top.

  4. Hockey gods are messing with the Leafs. If the Leafs miss the playoffs, they could win the draft lottery for the Bruins who own the Leafs' first round pick. The Bruins already took Fraser Minten, a rising star, from the Leafs in that same trade for Brendan Carlo which the Leafs also gave up their first round pick in this year's draft. Painful!

  5. I have been saying this all along even since they fired Savard on December 22nd. They should have continued losing as much as possible in order to be in position finishing bottom 5 to not watch that 1st round pick go to Boston but no they gave the fanbase once again a slim chance of hope and went 9-4-4 sibce the firing and will likely finish somewhere in the middle of the pack. The team has bo assets or any future players to really look forward to (might get a lucky gem or 2) but they wasted too many years in the past and left the cupboards think for whoever the gm was going to be and would make it an extremely difficult job unfortunately Treliving took the job at the end of the Shanaplan and it's nearly impossible to fix with this group until they set a new culture through they're leadership. Nylander flipping birds on tsn cameras while being injured and him basically laughing having a good time making 11.5 is not a great look and whst you want in the room. Bringing back Tavares even at the cap was a mistake he is just to slow, needs to be on the wing like the way Stamkos is for Nashville to still somewhat be effective as he gets into his mid 30s.
Matthews has looked great scoring wise as of late but we basically know from here on out of his career he's always going to be fragile for parts of the season, making it difficult for him to put up even 45 goals anymore, teams know to target Matthews and lose most of there offense.
Rielly needs to be sat down by the management and told his time as a Leaf is up, he either waives his NTC and accepts a trade or he is scratched until otherwise. Carlo can go too. I would hold onto McCabe, OEL, Tanev, Stecher & Benoit but they need a couple more puck moving defensemen.
The only pieces they should be holding on too 100% are Knies, Robertson, Danford, Cowan & Hildeby. Anyone else I would move for the right price

  6. I just think it's kinda tough to do a rebuild now when you don't have a first round pick for 2 years. Ya you could trade some players and get some picks but if you're bottoming out your not going to get as good of a first round pick but I definitely agree we got to go in a new direction this team does not have it.

  7. Dump everyone except knies … tanev …. mccabe … woll …. roy …. Joshua …. laughton …. tavares …. Cowan …. danford ….. stretcher …. Lorentz ….
Go after will Smith san Jose via trade and bank that you get Gavin mackenna in the draft somehow …. pursue Alex tuch …. Jamie benn …. Jason robertson …. Jamie oleksiak …. Logan stanly …. Matt rempe …. Matt rosolvich all in free agency …. new look team

    Knies mcakenna tuch
    Robertson Smith rosolvich
    Tavares Roy joshue
    Benn laughton rempe
    Lorentz

    Mccabe tanev
    Oleksiak stretcher
    Stanly danford

    Woll
    Hildeby

Solid top 6 and bottom 6
Defende could use some improvement but still big and strong 💪 and will have lots of draft capital to make potential moves

  8. I've never seen this channel before, but it's been spamming my feed lately. Before I click off and block it though, I just want to say I think that it's NHL canon that the Toronto Maple Leaves are the worst franchise team in league history now.

  9. Looks like the leaf's could use some empty calories 😂 and the amount of leaf fans that didn't think they were going into a rebuild after running Marner out of town was astonishing some people are just cluelees even after watching the NHL there whole life i remember someone saying this leaf's team will be like the Berube Blues of 18-19 🤣 . If you think your getting assets that will help you in the long term or short term future for a bunch of 3rd and 4th liners your massively mistaken and Treliving has no real cap space till the offseason so i don't know why you keep yelling for him to do something i guess you want him to pull LIdstrom out of his ass also AM34 is not sticking around for a rebuild if Treliving was smart he would get everything he could get for AM34 ,Rielly an Taveras right now and truly start the rebuild .

  10. You threw out the one guy that was not keeping bench quiet you preffered Matthews over him. Camadian has passion for this Auston don't it's simple. I would kept Marner a million time before Matthews

  11. It is difficult for teams to put together the roster they need every year. The leafs have all sorts of constraints and barriers to that task right now. Coupled with this, the Leafs have had a lot of injuries. They have been at the top of the league for over a decade. This is the first year that they have played poorly in the regular season. The haters love to find the negative in this team even when they win. When they lose everybody is in a panic. Chill out folks. The Leafs have better options coming up in the summer. Many teams that win the Stanley Cup or at least challenge deep into the playoffs, have had seasons that they didn't make the playoffs only to come back and go all the way.

  12. 0:42 doesn't matter which team wins, you know producer drew is gonna add in his 10 cents across the video everytime these teams play. I love it

  13. According to Friedman, Matthews agreed to a handshake deal for his last contract 2 years early under the condition the team didnt come off the rails.

That same conversation can happen this off-season.

How do they sell and keep Matthews happy?

They can't. So they gamble on next year. If it doesnt go well, Matthews goes into the 27-28 season without an extension and they're faced with the Marner situation all over again.

    This sucks.

  14. If I was the leafs gm right now., I am realizing that this team is not tough enough to make the playoffs right now. We have got to make basically everyone except for knies, Cowan, Laughton, Woll available for trade and see like Steve said fleece a team into overpaying for one of our players. Then in the off-season, we seriously have to look at trading auston Matthews and Morgan Reilly. The culture within the team is not good and the only way we can hard reset that is doing something as drastic as going to Matthews, telling him that the team is not going to be competitive for a cup over the next two years and asking him for a list of teams he would be willing to go to. It is just the only way we are going to build towards the future.

  15. Asking a question for the sake of asking and discussion (I have no idea any of the internal workings behind the scenes). How much of the decision making is coming from Brad and how much is coming from above (like Shanahan)? Shanahan is the one consistent thing through many coaches, GMs, players, etc. Not trying to point fingers or place blame. The president's position is one thing that hasn't changed in a long time.

  16. Maybe they were pissed after the Flyers put up a TD with the XP on their heads in their building…

The fact that a Denver based team decided to score four times on the ice & only two times in the snow disappoints me.

  17. The 19-20 Leafs were mid because they had a rookie coach trying to implement an entire new system with a mid D corps, but damn it they were genuinely fun to watch and played good attacking hockey.
(remember the 8-6 win over Carolina?)

The 25-26 Leafs are mid because their system is outdated and doesn't suit the players, and the D corps is even worse than 19/20. On top of that they aren't even fun to watch. Just dump and lose-the-chase hockey with a pathetic power play.
I'd take the 19/20 Leafs back in a heartbeat.

  18. Love you Steve. Dogs come into our life and quickly become the most important thing to us that just become apart of our life. Thank you Steve for all these videos and content to many of us your the same, the crazy guy we all may share the same feelings with that become apart of our life that we all watch after every leafs games. Blessings to your family!

  19. A great way to sum things up. This season is over its time to face reality and retool it doesn't mean it has to be ugly it just has to be some meaningful changes.

  20. Hey remember when Adam and Jessie said the Leafs would win the division, and when you said they'd finish 2nd in the division?

    I member. 🤡

  21. Asking the team who is a day late and a dollar short consistently to get ahead of the curve is asking a lot.
I also don't think you're asking about trades for enough players. The stars are the problem.

  22. Im low key a little jealous of the snow, we’re going through a heat wave in Melbourne atm (45 degrees celsius predicted for tomorrow) today’s loss was another disappointing one- I'm just manifesting we get enough points by April to be in a wild card spot. Miracles can happen and Im hoping we get one this season.

  23. I would seriously consider finding a way to trade Nylander or Matthews, they are proven chockers wearing the white and blue, it’s over.

  24. The only issue with the lightning right now is having a garbage ass backup. Leave it up to him to screw up our streak. Can't stand Jonas the crap hanson
