  1. Well, it is a huge move – – – for the Islanders.
Down key defensemen, this move should help get them to playoffs.
Rangers lost a capable defenseman and shot blocker and really got nothing in return. Could have driven a harder bargain – but then, look who was doing it.
Yeah this is "the tip of the iceberg" – the one that will sink the Rangers Titanic.

  2. Would have preferred trading Vaakininen but, he’s sucks big time so good luck with that.

  3. Wow what a huge move. A third round pick. The Rangers cant pick any one good in the first round no less the third round.

  4. Great deal for the Isles, big strong lefty, to protect #48.(Tippett took some runs at Schaffer last night) Rangers appear lost, this will be more than a retool , but less than a teardown. Does Sullivan survive?

  5. Not a huge move by the Rangers. A stupid move. Soucy is a solid, stay at home defenseman with a plus rating. And for a 3rd rounder? Nonsense

  6. Not enough return for Soucy. Could have asked for another 6th or 7th round pick or a decent prospect

  7. Everyone complained about Soucy all season, now he gets traded and its a bad move? He was no real asset and we need better. To me its a fine trade and frees up cap space and they add a pick they can combine in another deal. Vaak is probably next…

  8. be prepared for 20 draft picks that this idiot wouldn't know what to do with if it bit him on the ass….he's an embarrassment and disgrace to this organization

  9. Got nothing for soucy, another terrible trade by drury. Soucy needed to go , could have held out for more, especially to the islanders! Wow they are gonna start playing the kids? We all wanted that from the beginning kf this season instead of radysh, sheary, soucy, vakineinan, lafren shoukd have been benched or sent down. Lets go with perrault, berard, othmann, morrow, mackey, roobreck, see what they have!

  10. 3rd rd pick is better than nothing what did you expect the return to be we we're gonna get anything significant in return

  11. They need to learn how to draft pick! Even though everybody likes Jeff Gordon, remember Gordon was the last guy that picked the number one player in the draft that the bust and the second player overall that is busted too!

  12. I wonder when the Fox and Rangers situation starts to seem so strange that its like they want to get rid of him. Guy from own town and I don't know why. If he was healthy and stayed in that form, he would be 3-4 in the Norris race. So my hot take is that Panarin and Fox leave as a package. That way the Rangers will also get the maximum value out of it. Could Washington be so desperate in Ovechkin's bad season or second bad season that they would go all in and get this YV clinic pair there. And then in the other direction would come Cole Hutson and e.g. McMichael or some picks. If Fox moves, then the Rangers should at least want the number one D package back or a very potential one. It may be utopia and I threw it completely out of the hat, but the Fox situation is special and it wouldn't be the first time in the last three seasons that Drury has gotten rid of a player. 😀

What do you think, is it really utopia? 😂

  13. The trade of Soucy is simply rearranging deck chairs on the Titanic type of move. The notion that the Islanders were going to overpay because they are division rivals is foolish. Rangers received fair market value for a third pairing defenseman.

Whats interesting to remember though is that Soucy's wife just delivered a baby! Not a time to uproot a family with a long distance trade. Drury did Soucy a solid by trading him across town. Free Agents and players in general look at that type of maneuver in a different light than fans do.

Finally, the Cap Space created by moving Soucy early in the season allows Drury greater flexibility for future moves. It may also allow the Rangers to weaponize that cap space and be a "middle man" in the trade of a high contract player closer to the deadline. Be patient fans! I'm not a huge fan of our GM, but I'm willing to wait and see what happens between now and the trading deadline before I jump to any conclusions…
