To be fair with the whole Hamilton situation, Hamilton was dog shit until January.. easily our worst rhd. His agent was a baby about it, and is the one that complained first.. should Fitz have responded? Probably not, but the scratch proved to be the best thing for his season, as he's had points in every game since and has been the Hamilton they originally signed.

Might be a hot take but Jack is never going to live up to his full potential due to his extensive injuries. He will never win Hart and he will never be THE star to take this team to a Cup. He can win a Cup for sure in his career but he will need another star of similar caliber playing on his team. And his brother? Luke is never going to be more than what he is. They overpaid him.

I don't want to speak for other NJD fans, but I think a lot of us agree that Fitzgerald is just not getting done. 2 seasons ago when we acquired Jake Allen, Tom did a presser and stated that he had "hoped and wished" that the goaltending situation would improve throughout the season and since it didn't we ended up punting. Who tf makes decisions on hopes and dreams instead of doing what's right for the team and making sure that they punch their ticket into the post? Then last season at the deadline we traded for DANIEL SPRONG when he could've just gotten him through waivers a bit earlier…seriously? We did however get Cody Glass as well and he's been fantastic. But at his presser after that deadline he said, "We tried going for Cozens, but came in 2nd"…What? Then there were rumors of Schenn…Honestly I don't hate the idea, but at this point, you took a very fast team that was flying and outscoring most teams and slowed them down drastically. I'm just kind of over the front office altogether. As for the coaching staff, I'd be willing to keep Keefe him over Tom, but some of the coaches have to go for example, goalie coach Dave Rogalski. All of our goalies get worse under his tutelage, he's gotta go, look what it's done for Ilya Sorokin. Also, with a F group this talented we have to look at our special teams coach as well. Just not great.

The Hughes favoritism is clear as day when you look how Luke is treated compared to Nemec. Nemec is going to want out this summer and I wouldn't blame him.
Ownership only cares about the asset value of the team and arena.
The core is no longer developing, they are on the tail end of their prime and have nothing to show for it.
They fold at the first sign of adversity.
They need a new vision at the helm, someone who has no attachments to Palat and Markstrom or any of the core.
The longer Fitz is at the helm the more damage to the future is done as they will be stuck as a playoff bubble team.
Maybe it's time for NJ to issue a letter. Just start it off with Fitz being fired.

As someone who’s always had a soft spot for the devils. I just never thought Luke Hughes was that #1 defenseman people made him out to be. I always preferred Nemec. This may be harsh but Luke Hughes getting the money he did was a factor of his two brothers. He just isn’t elite on either side of the ice, especially on his own end. When I watch him it’s like watching a Bouchard but worse with not the same offensive output. I don’t believe this team can ever win when their stars like Jack Hughes are always injured
From what I've seen in his time in NJ, Keefe is not offensive minded. Under Lindy, NJ were one of the highest scoring teams, one of the best rush teams in the league. The roster hasnt changed that much since then yet we've done a full 180. This team stinks under him. But you are definitely right, the player development with NJ is terrible, pretty sure AHL Utica is dead last in the AHL also. As a devils fan I am fully on board with getting rid of both Hughes brothers.

Jimmy, can you do one for the Ottawa Senators? How is it that they made the playoffs last year with such a promising team and now that team is bottom of the Atlantic division?
The Roster should be held accountable, and Fitz created it. He created this situation with so many big contracts with no-trade clauses. the problem is if you fire Fitz the next GM's hands will be tied too. Palat is a 6M dollar Pylon out there, Meier didn't come as advertised, L Hughes is a big expensive contract without earning it. When Hughes goes down every year it hurts Hischier and Bratt the most. Bratt because nobody can match his speed and skill like Hughes. Then Hischier because he becoming the only good center on the team now, becomes a swiss army knife and is in for all the big faceoffs, power plays and penalty kills.

Been a devil fan entire life. But Jack doesn’t play winning hockey. He plays selfish pond hockey. He loves to act angry after games but he don’t care becasue he does the same stupid shit all the time. I was told he was a great skater but he’s always falling… I was told he was an amazing stick handler but all he ever does is give the puck away. Fitz needs to rid the team of the Hughes. They are a liability.

We need to fire Fitz. That has to be the very first step.
After that, Markstrom should be sent straight into retirement and we need to find a solution for Palat, because right now he is nothing but wasted cap space and a wasted roster spot.
Dougie Hamilton, on the other hand, is needed. He clicks with most of his teammates and brings stability. Especially if Luke Hughes is sent down, Hamilton becomes even more important for this team.
Luke Hughes needs to go to the AHL for proper development. He needs time, structure, and responsibility without NHL pressure. That is exactly why keeping Hamilton matters.
It does not matter anymore that Luke has this monster contract. Thank you, Fitzgerald. The damage is already done.
Normally, you deliver first and then you get paid. Fitzgerald somehow believed that big numbers on a contract would magically turn a boy into a man and set him on fire in the NHL.
In my eyes, this contract is not even fair to Luke Hughes. It puts massive pressure on him before he is ready and could seriously damage his career.

unfortunately they have worked themselves into a paralyzing situation for this season. This is a strange year across the league where it doesnt seem impossible for a team like the devils to still make the playoffs, despite being ranked 13/16 in the east with 30 games remaining. they are only 2.5 games behind the isles for the 3rd metro spot. However, it still feels like an outside chance, making it very risky for this team to buy at the deadline. The center need is legitimate. They need both another top 6 wing and a very good 3C, especially considering Jack Hughes misses at least 20 games every year. When hes out of the lineup, the team looks completely outgunned in every matchup. You would like to think that a player would rise to the occasion and their production would actually increase in conjunction with increased playtime. On this team it just further stymies production when guys down the lineup can no longer take advantage easier matchups in the opposing lineup. Nobody has the ability to assert their will on the game besides jack. Lately their best line has been two euro rookies centered by cody glass.
