How does he know Mariucci suspended him because of outside pressure? Football coaches used to be strict disciplinarians, this was a big deal and considered out of line back then. Mooch probably thought it was the right thing to do. I like these guys but they really are narcissistic pampered little babies sometimes.
I loved TO as a player. He and Barry Sanders are my favorite offensive players of all time. But… they are polar opposites.
As I’ve gotten older, I realized that WRs and DL (especially interior) are generally the most temperamental, immature babies in football, because stereotypically, they have low emotional regulation. TO is just on the extreme end of that very extreme subcategory, and he’s honest. But to be clear, no matter how drama filled he is, he has very easy to understand care and feeding instructions (like the gremlin in the movie), and most teams/coaches failed to follow those instructions and the result was him being demonized in the media for things that weren’t always his fault.

It days a lot that when NFL ran the TO story only one of his QBs appeared. Steve Young was the only QB. Romo, Garcia, McNabb all passed. That says a lot about the type of team mate he was. Hell Parcells had some hard to deal with players on his rooster over the years but he speaks highly of all then except T.O. when he was coaching the Cowboys. He referred to T.O. as the Player. He didn't even use his name.
