Totonto have 1311 shots against this season – the worst in NHL. I kept saying that getting outshot in most games will never work long-term. Last year, this was masked by the stand-on-his-head, Stolarz. Laziest team with the most entitled players in the NHL. Pathetic!
This is what happens when you have a totally incompetent GM and heartless&souless team with no leadership. And I strongly disagree with Bourne! Lack of talent is one of the problems here, but not the only one and definitely not the biggest issue! That is without any doubt a lack of leadership!

The last thing you jokingly brought up about hiring Adams for the Leafs is actually interesting. I think he could be a great president of hockey ops where he basically only handles trades and other big picture stuff, like Rutherford's role in Vancouver.
Because basically every trade he made was great and almost every extension decision he made has turned out great. He was just lacking in the outward facing leadership and confidence inspiring aspects of the job. Which you could solve by having a GM under him that is experienced and great with people. Could even do the double poach from Buffalo and sign Bergevin for that job lol.
Why is no one ever mentioning Roy as a trade chip? He's probably the Leafs most attractive piece for a contender. Big, right shot center, Cup winner, great contract (especially if the Leafs would retain half) without any trade protection. With retention I think he nets you a 1st or equivalent prospect.

still trying to understand how exactly does the Leafs organization exemplify excellence ? Haven't won a cup since 67, in recent years they have under achieved some would call it choke in the playoffs and now a downward spiral into oblivion which most probably will lead to a "Rebuild" so Leaf fans please enlighten me on the Leafs tradition of excellence because the way I see it the media has pushed this narrative and it's all BS.
It was all over back in October. Treliving changed the DNA which did NOT make a tougher team but a collection of losers. Storlarz saw it when he called them out for not defending him. Take the "C" away from Austen who never deserved it. Reilly and Tavares are just far too slow now. Nylander's finger not only showed he didn't want to be in the press box but doesn't want to be on the Leafs either. Cowan is being taught how to lose at the NHL level and this could hamper his future ability to grow. The Leafs have been lost for a long time.

Kevin Adams' trades were actually not bad/border line good. The problem was everything else was doo-doo. Horrible public speaking/public image, etc. 👍👍
Matthews is a joke. He simply is not a Leader. The organization has no business building anything around him at all. Staying tied to him after 9 years of failure in the post season and other must win games is suicide. At the very least the C must be taken from Matthews. He doesn't need an A either.

What is not mentioned throughout this whole conversation, is thst it really doesn't matter who you sell or trade. At the end of the day, there's a massive culture problem within the entire organization. No sell or trade scenario fixes that. They had lots of talent up front, in the playoffs, but couldn't get it done. The culture is bad and it shows on and off the ice.
They need to take a page out of the blue jays book and look at the things that make that culture so great.

Zucker has like 50+ playoff games and I know Byram won a SC with Colorado…not sure on everyone else as far as playoffs but Buffalo as a team doesn't seem to notice right now. They are just playing good hockey.
