  1. GREAT trade for the NYI. ISLANDERS get a legitimate playoff stud plus picks while losing nothing.
NJD gets desperately needed cap relief.

  2. I think Darche is savy enough to flip him next year while retaining salary towards some draft picks. Maxim was quite bad for us as well and I’m glad to get some picks for him while strengthening our third line for a short playoff run

  3. Better deal I think for the Isles. They immediately got back the 3rd rounder they sent to the NYR for Soucy. The 6th is a throw in. As for the players Tsyplakov has shown that he might not be an NHL player. He at least was a bad fit for what the Isles and Roy want. Palat only has one year left on his deal so the contract is really not much of an issue. He's also obviously underperforming but at least has long run playoff experience and will offer better 4th line minutes than Tsyplakov was doing. For the Devils for this deal to be a win Tsyplakov has to show a more than he has.

  4. All we need now is a trade between the Rangers and Devils and all 3 NYC area teams have done trade deals with each other.

  5. Bossy better GPG then Gretzky. Never forget the best goals per game player to live, is Bossy, is a NYI, not Gretzky. NYI half the years, but 1000x more history than the NY Rags.

  6. This move feels like an absolute win for the Isles. Firstly we off load Tsipy, who was honestly just not working out with us (wish him the best) and for a team that is over achieving in its rebuild we essentially nullify what we lost in the Soucy trade and get a sixth. Best comes to best Palat has a slight return to form and scores more and worse comes to worse we are stuck with him till the end of next season. And somewhere in the middle he improves enough we can offload him at the next trade deadline, feels like a win for Darche

  7. we live on Maple Leaf tears, JT knows he'd have a Cup if he didn't leave…..he knows it. We know it too, more boos for a traitor.

  8. If you combine both of the islanders trades it’s basically :
    Palat
    Soucy
    6th round pick

    In exchange for Tsyplakov

I realize the islanders will have a $6m cap hit from Palat next year but with the islanders in a bit of a retool they probably won’t need that space.

  9. Pretty good debut last year but absolutely nothing from Tsyplakov this season. 2 measly pts.

Palat won't move the needle for NYI even in case of injury and he gets more ice-time. Couple of blah picks is all.

  10. I wonder if Darche has a plan here. Drouin, Palat, and Stamkos were linemates for a few years in Tampa. Drouin and Palat were grinders who setup Stamkos for goals. They're only missing one piece. Stamkos has been rumored to be on the block and the Isles have been rumored to have inquired. Why else would they swallow Palat's $$$. Those two could entice Stamkos to wave his NTC.

  11. Lightning/Darche connection with Palat. This is why Stamkos rumors have been linked to the Islanders as well. Roy was getting frustrated with Tsyplakov…a player with good skills but can't seem to put it together.

  12. The irony is that Lou Lamoriello was in New Jersey during the John MacLean Ring of Honor game when this was announced. This would never have been announced in-game under his watch (over either team), though I wouldn’t put it beyond him to work a deal in this kind of scenario. As an aside, it sure was nice to see Jacques Lemaire again. I assume his coaching days are over, but we can dream…

  13. I would like to see the Devils get a center and a guy (or 2) who can fight. Since Fitzgerald pretty much traded or let go the few fighters on the team and the center depth is thin. But I don't see good players wanting to waive to go to NJ. So options will be limited or nonexistent.

  14. Realistically, Isles traded Tysp for Soucy, Palat, 3rd, 6th. Its only a 3.75 cap hit next season for the isles. They solidified their 3rd pair D and got an actual bottom 6 forward. Tysp didnt fit system or roster, hes really not a bottom 6 type of player. Also a regular scratch.

  15. what a mistake by the Islanders…why? and I hate it when a good young player falls out of favor just bc the coach doesn't like his style of play…Coaches need to get over it, stop ruining players. Just like Tocchett in Vancouver, ruining Podkolzin, he was in the doghouse SO much…look how much he has flourished in Edm when given the opportunity to play a reg shift

  16. It’s an obvious win for the Devils but I do like the move for the Islanders. The cap hit is bad but the Islanders aren’t in a crunch, Palat is a good defensive forward who can forecheck and backcheck well. I would be willing to bet he’s a good match on a Palat-Pageau-Holmstrom 3rd line.

If it doesn’t work, the islanders have 22m in cap space next season with limited UFA’s that need to be re-signed and Palat’s contract will be up at the same time time a lot of those Darche 2 year contracts are up after next season.

  17. I like it, but there needs to be more. We need more scoring, and now that we have the cap space to do it Fitz needs to make another move or 2

  18. I would've asked for more draft picks from New Jersey, but Tsyplakov was making 2.25 million to sit, and each contract only has 1 year left after this year. Islanders are basically playing 2.75 million for a veteren who fits better on a 3rd or 4th line then Tsyplakov does, and since the Isles have lots of cap space I think this trade is fine. I might have blinders since I love Ondrej Palat.

  19. As an islanders fan I think this paired with the other trade is a huge win. You pick up a big dman which was very needed and a 6th for a few million in salary.

  20. Isles fans like myself are pretty excited primarily for Palat's leadership, grit, experience etc. They needed someone else to help show some of the younger guys how it's done. He is on 3.75 mil more than Tspy and only for 1.3 years and we get 2 picks. Solid deal but we are not expecting his to light up the scoresheet by any means. Wishing the best for Tspy, he certainly has talent but he was just not going to work in Roy's system.

  21. I would have loved this trade over the summer or two months ago. Fitz doesn’t pay attention to the standings so its still November to him

  22. I really wanted Palat to work in NJ. Cup Winner, knew what it took to win, seen him play in tampa. Idk if it was just a bad fit or what..

  23. As a NY Isles fan, I REALLY hope it works out 💪🏻 for Tsyplakov. Maxim Tsyplakov is your typical 27 yr old 6'3" 201 lbs Russian hockey player who never shy's away from contact and that's exactly what NJ needs & he has all the speed and playmaking ability to be a really good player for the NJ Devils. As Devil & Islanders fans will tell you, "yeah we play in the same division but it's not a blood feud rivalry." The NY Islanders and NJ Devils have their separate rivalries with the hated Rags. We'll see what line Roy puts Palat on? Though it really doesn't matter. Roy changes up lines pretty frequently.

  24. My favourite player since he entered the league and the Isles have always been our nemesis team. We sure like dealing w/ them… Palát, Palmieri, Zajac, Greene…

  25. Hi from Czechia🇨🇿 We really need Palát in his best form so I'm glad he has been traded to Islanders, he will play there more and better🙌🔥
