We had such a bad showing the win-o-meter don’t feel like working

I did notice Makar was being more aggressive in the Offensive Zone with his wingman back. Unfortunately it didn’t result in scoring. They both also made some really good defensive plays.

Really need to be doing better than 2 expected goals a game.
Also, dunno if people are ill, but MacKinnon, Makar etc should be embarrassed by getting outplayed by Parker Kelly.

If DET didn’t score immediately they wouldn’t have been able to shut down the neutral zone like they did but I’m surprised at their offensive numbers shown here. It really didn’t feel like aside from a couple chances that they were all that dangerous. Give them all the credit in the world for shutting us down though, nothing came easy.
On the flip side, the Avs fumbled every puck, made one too many passes, and missed the net on every prime opportunity. You could tell early on it would be a rough one.

I’m not going to be too critical of a slump in January. Shit happens. But this historically inept power play is what you get for scapegoating Ray Bennett. We were a reliable top 10 unit with him. I said at the time the grass isnt always greener and would you look at that, it isnt. I think we’ll be fine in the end but if this slump continues and we have another early exit than you need to start looking at making a change at HC. Anything less than the WCF is a failure this year

1. We have been bounced out of the playoffs by this exact counter-strategy like 4 times during Bednar’s tenure. How are we still completely unable to adjust and play differently? Yeah, he got us a Cup and I’m behind him 100% but you gotta do fucking something. Dump-and-chase, crash the net, play hard.
2. Missing a single player, even if he is the captain, should not have this big of an effect on the team. Especially since he isn’t the only one with leadership qualities.
3. The powerplay has gone from laughable to just plain disastrous. I don’t care whose fault it is, figure it the fuck out.
4. I’m hoping we get at least a couple of 3rd liners before the deadline, and hopefully launch Olofsson to the sun.

I don’t think there is a place for Olofsson on this team anymore. He’s a black hole where offensive plays go to die.
Getting a functioning PP is so critical against these trap teams that have been eating our lunch over the past few years. They take a penalty, they can’t trap with only 4 players anymore, you score on the PP, they’re now behind or tied and are forced to play more aggressively.

I watched the stats throughout the game. Our first (?) line was low to mid the whole game.
I had good feelings seeing how our other lines were doing, but first never really got there. That’s what we needed. Poor threat on heatmap
Nuke had a few moments, those were nice to see
I keep saying we just need to make small adjustments… but also aware at how difficult that can also be to figure out and… do
