    Brandon Carlo's attributes begin and end with, he's BIG. That's it. He never uses that BIG body to hit anyone, or move them, he's just BIG occupying a spot on the ice. 16 penalty minutes all season, wow what a great tough BIG d-man. haha.

    Let’s not overlook that Carlo was a solid piece in a (formerly) very defense-focused Bruins organization. He had been the longest-tenured Bruin at the time, and was a good shutdown defenseman and a great penalty killer- but he also played a lot of his minutes with puck movers like Charlie McAvoy and Torey Krug in the past. Without a responsible 2-way guy, his abilities are really restrained.
    At any rate great video! B’s made out like BANDITS on this one. Not to mention they also acquired Zellers, and drafted Hagens and LeTourneau. The prospect pool is looking unreal for Boston right now for the first time in- maybe, ever?

    This is a trade that in hindsight looks much worse than it did in the moment. A 1st round pick and a prospect they didn’t want for a top 4 RHD with salary retention for 2 additional years? Honestly that sounds like a pretty good deal for a deadline snag, and Carlo played well for the leafs down the stretch last year. Even now I don’t necessarily think it was the wrong choice as Berube would put Domi at center again before ever playing Minten, so with the direction the teams were heading in at the time this deal is logical. And basically nobody foresaw the Atlantic standings being what they are come February of this year
