The jumbotron really is comically small. Looks like 2 Costco TVs stacked on each other 4 times.

I like how they made the rink too small yet they left tons of space around it.

I didn’t realize there was already Olympic hockey on? Is this like the women’s pretournament? Or the real deal?

  4. Wipes_Back_to_Front

I really like the tron. One day it may grow up to be a Jumbotron

As we all knew and is standard with Olympic Arena’s always finished with like mins to spare but always get done

I can’t wait to not see these boards once. I can smell the moving visa ads now

  7. I really don’t understand the controversy about the ice surface being too small now – you have several feet/meters of unused space surrounding the rink. You could have easily made it bigger. They made it sound like the arena itself wasn’t designed big enough.

Edit: I take it from the downvotes everyone else already knew this, but I was genuinely curiously and did some more research, apparently the empty space around the ice surface is an IIHF and Olympic safety requirement, so it couldn’t just be made bigger. Thus, the hoopla.

I love how the design on the boards looks but I think it’s too dark for hockey, practically speaking. There’s a reason they’re default white.

Bro is that a 42” OLED hanging from the rafters? 😭

  10. Honestly looks great, I think thats more than adequate for an Olympic tourney

I actually quite like the smaller scoreboard. I haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaate the trend of giant-ass put-the-jumbo-in-jumbotron scoreboards. Distracting is what they are.

The 60×26 rink really brought out the « fans » that don’t know what regulation size is.

This thread is full of Americans and Canadians that totally ignored international hockey since 2014 and it shows lol. The number of people saying that something is weird/bad when it looks like a normal World Championship or past OGs is astounding lol.

  14. I like the implication that they had 59 minutes or fewer to finish up.

  15. This looks like one those arenas that a city would brag about as them being « serious about hockey », but in reality all they end up only using it for stuff like residential public skating and rec league games. That tron is comical. It’s like they went to the European version of Costco and picked up a few TVs because that’s all they had time for.

Why are there no ozempic or sports betting adds on the boards? How will I watch hockey without them!?

The Romans built aqueducts that still function today but the current locals can’t even build a full sized locker room?

Canadians poisoned the Finns. Game postponed.

Is the dark area on the right in 2nd pic, DLC seating?

  20. my question is, and perhaps it’s already be answered somewhere, is how in the hell is the rink 3 feet short when there is like 10 feet of space between the boards and the stands at each end? they clearly had the room to make it the right size, so wtf

  21. As long as the ice is decent and it looks good on TV, i am good.

  22. themikegman

Looks to me they had plenty of space to make it a full sized rink.
