I think an offseason of him training with the program in Vorhees will do him a lot of good. The talent has always been there, once he locks in and develops his game more he will show the same flashes as last year and more. He’s only 21 and has shown his talent already. Im flair biased but confident he will work out here

I’m hoping he’s one of those ‘too good to ruin’ guys.

Out of curiousity, what is it that Tocchet is doing that is holding him back?
I understand the ice time argument and the left wing argument.
If he really was as skilled as everyone here thinks he is, is that really an issue? Wouldn’t he just play his way into more ice time? And let’s remember he spent a lot of last year on the left.
I am about the biggest Michkov fan there is, but Im not gonna sit here and blame everything else. He hasn’t been good and thats just as much on him as it is on anything else.
And to be clear I made a comment yesterday saying how Tocchet was Brieres first major mistake. I hate the guy and im not defending him in any way here.

Is Dick Toxic still coaching next season? If so, Michkov is screwed. Nobody kills young talent better

I aint watching that shit man you tryna make me kill myself

im not taking taco’s side but michkov has some obvious weaknesses not only skating speed but also his shot is underwhelming this year and the EDGE numbers back up the eye test on both. bottom half of the league in the two most important things for top line players to have. and its not like he’s knocking on the door to the top half he’s well below the averages
anywhere in the league in the top 6 youll have guys that dont shoot but skate well. likewise you can find all kinds of shooters that cant skate for shit, we have some. but matvei is bottom 50th percentile in both. and thats not good enough.
even though his top speed has increased by like 0.3 of a mile over last year if this is whats considered to be in pro hockey shape its the bare minimum requirement to play more than 4th line minutes and we need to be honest about that.
the kid in these highlights should have made bigger strides this off season. these arent things that are developed during the season when youre playing every other night. if that were possible he’d be even faster now in game 50 than he was in game 1.
okay injury sure, that will set you back. but to have made no noticeable progress at all? no coach is going to reward that, and no owner is going to pay 80 million dollars for the rest of the team to be dev coaches all year.
come into camp next year ready and improved and prove us all wrong, but right now theres 20 other guys that deserve to play hockey.

Sure are a lot of overtime goals there, eh Rick?

It’s not important that Michkov is good. Only Tocchet is important. That’s who the fans come to see.

He’s gonna be fine.

That pass to Coots at 8:15 gave me the chills.
I kind of miss Torts
Ok_Orchid7131
Maybe you give him some OT shifts?? He did score 5 OT goals last season.
walnutandrittenhouse
His numbers are actually not that far off from last year at this time. People forget that he came out of the 4Nations break on a tear and also put up gaudy numbers towards the end after Torts left and they basically stopped playing defensive hockey.
Not to say that all of this isnt valid but if this is a “shitty” MM imagine what his ceiling is.

I remember thinking at the beginning of last season how Frost was going to have a fantastic year playing with Michkov. That didn’t work out so much.
Get Mich back to RW. So many great plays starting from the goal line on the R, and also when he starts at the R circle and brings the puck into the middle.
RoddRoward
Alot of plays on the power play and from the right side.

I remember watching Ghost’s rookie highlights during his slumps before reality set in. Hope Mich has a much better tenure with us
