Sommes-nous au-delà des négociations et en pleine dépression maintenant ? L’acceptation ne viendra probablement pas tant que les mathématiques n’auront pas rattrapé ce qui semblait déjà essentiellement impossible – lorsque « presque impossible » deviendra officiellement impossible. C’est l’essentiel de ce dont Cam et Jim discutent dans le programme d’aujourd’hui alors qu’ils commencent à envisager la saison 2026-27. Avec leurs principaux joueurs signés à long terme, cette année doit être l’anomalie. Cela doit être l’exception. Mais que se passera-t-il si la saison prochaine commence de la même manière – disons, avec une fiche de 2-8-0 lors des 10 premiers matchs ? Est-ce un risque de ne pas s’éloigner de Scott Arniel et de trouver une nouvelle voix derrière le banc ? Even if they win out when they come back from the break, they would still need the teams they are chasing to go on some losing streaks. I agree with Jim that the Jets are a good team having a bad season. There are too many "slow" players. When was the last time that you saw so many players have regression seasons at the same time. Agree with the bad luck season.
The focus at this point needs to switch to re-tooling for next year. Forget trying to miraculously sneak into playoffs this season, cuz that ship has sailed. It’s disappointing that the season was such a misstep, but that’s just how it goes sometimes. What’s important now is how the organization responds going forward. Your core group is locked in and more than capable, but the rest of the lineup needs major revision. I hope the task of putting together a Winnipeg Jets roster that can actually compete next year is taken very seriously.
Are some of the young guys not ready or were they being put in positions to not really be successful? I think they shouldn't have kept 3 young guys up and rotate them every 2-4 games, they should have been given more rope. Most of them weren't playing playing bad defensively, but weren't scoring. It's not like the vets were lighting it up.

Old, slow personnel. Habs turned on the burners after a sleepy first period and dominated. They knew who they were playing. Get rid of 14, 19, 62, 7, 5, maybe 2, and 9. Young, fast, hungry depth can support the star vets.
the Tank is real and should be embraced by this point the problem is they are going to try for this misguided run only to fall flat on their face and miss a high draft pick , what is the ppoint in allowing our good players to play in this garbage send them to mexico, forefit the rest of the season no one is going to go watch this we dont want the Tank we want to win but the team has let us down and by now its apperenant that we wont be getting in no matter how hard we play its over put a fork in it and start over next year and in the off season there had better be massive rule changes and better zebras and maybe the league can be saved as it is right now it is so slated towards major market teams that even if we come back next year the league will make sure we dont make it in

The reason why this is such a big discussion point is that it’s very complicated and it’s not simply one thing.
I would wager that if we started the year with a healthy goaltender and captain… and a healthy second or third line player (Perfetti), the additions that were made would make more sense come playoff time. There were many, many fans who noted that the Jets were not heavy enough and experienced to get further in the playoffs… This is what was added. But we probably won’t find that out. Bonus points if they found somebody who could add to the speed that they lost with Ehlers (which they probably gambled on a moose player stepping up to fill some of that gap). I would also note that the draft and develop didn’t (couldn’t? As they traded away a lot of draft picks?) add a lot of players with some speed and size that are able to step up and be inserted.
And then, of course it doesn’t make it any easier as honestly not every player in the NHL wants to play here, so “quick” solutions don’t really happen in the way they may, in other more “attractive” locales.
I agree 110% w/Cam on his final comment about why this team is where they currently find themselves. Too old, too slow and missing players at key positions – 2C & RD1. And are top 2 forwards play an avg to below avg 200’ game.
Most Jets fans will be a fan of another team we didn't have a team from 1995-2011 and older people passed down Leafs/Habs/Bruins from original 6 days.
Being born 94 with TV you only got western teams on TV unless HNIC top games. You'd also have blackouts or where they didn't show games. I cheered for Calgary with Iginla/Kipper over Canucks with Bertuzzi/Naslund, Oilers with Smyth,Toronto with Sundin,Habs with Koivu, Sens with Alfy/Heatley/Spezza.
Now do i cheer for flames no I like the jets but I do want them to suceed being another western team. I haven't liked many of their cores since those days.
I don't get when we had no team or older people/French canadians/millennials having a 2nd team is a big deal. Do I want them knock jets out playoffs NO.
It can also be fans cheer for a individual player like when Bourque went to Colorado,or Toews in Chicago maybe fans dont like that team but want the hometown or ex player to win.
As for team direction after Olympics I agree with Toth blowing it up and meeting quotas its a business. I'd like to see at least 3-4trades not major ones but examples
1. Schenn for a 4th
2. Stanley+Lambert for Danielson+2nd Detroit.
3. Neidereitter for pick
4.possibly 1 more like a Namestnikov,Pearson,Koepke,Miller,Heinola,Demelo and see what happens rest of year swap in and out lineup Shaw,Barlow,Chibrikov,Yager give a few games,Philips,Fagemo,Zhilkin,Ford.
Similar to Boston traded Carlo,Brazeau,Frederic,Marchand,Coyle and now they turned it around having decent season. Now that's a more major version. They didn't just blow up in FA and deadline added as well Jokiharju took a chance on Jeannot/Arvidsson.
