  1. The main issue most have about Huska is his development (or lack thereof) of our younger players. He refuses to give them any leniency or playtime (always placed on the lowest line + one mistake and they're benched), though he never holds the vets to the same standard.

  2. Scoring is so hard to come by. With no pure scorers the system they play doesn’t help the lack of offence, or converting looks into opportunities. Hoping for Robo from the stars or Shane wright from the kraken to get into the system as a centre

  3. The player that absolutely deserves an offer is Lomberg – they would be absolutely tone deaf if they did not offer him either 3 x $4 or 4 x $3 contract.

  4. As an Oiler fan, I know they hate us, and don't blame them. But they're Albertan, and I love how much effort they throw into every game. I hope they can rebuild after Treliving gutted them, and looking forward to some more great BoA.

  5. All things considered, they've been on the right track so far. Kadri should be the next out the door, even if it happens at the trade deadline. A good return on him and landing on solid picks at the draft and I could see them being competitive again within the next 2-3 years

  6. The Flames have the third toughest schedule because they don't get to play themselves. I wouldn't be surprised with Huberdeau if he ends up in the same situation like Carey Price and Shea Weber. They just tell him to stay home for the rest of his carer and send him a check till his contract runs out. Maybe his contract gets dealt to the new version of the Arizona Coyotes where he can be teammates with Pavel Datsyuk.

  7. I often wonder if the lack of offence is due to the lack of talent or the defence first system Certainly young guys brought up in recent years, i.e. Zary, Pospisil, Coronato and young guys acquired i.e. Frost, Farabbe haven't produced as anticipated.

  8. I agree that Huska has gotten as much out of them as they can give. Before we had Huska we had a team that had inconsistent efforts. Until Huska gets the word from up above to start prioritizing youth over wins, he’s gonna do what a coach does and try to win, which usually means using the old guys.
As for Coleman, I think he’s gonna be a UFA at the end of next season so now is probably the best time to get the best return. However he has been pretty amazing this year until his injury. Teamed with Backlund, they tend to get the best out of whoever is put on their line. I would hate to lose Coleman simply because I think he’s one of our best with the young ones.
As for Kadri his effort and attitude is questionable to me this year. I have no doubt he hates to lose and he’s struggling because of it. I think he would be our best trade pawn, even if we do have to retain salary.
I think we do need to keep Lombo simply because of his attitude and his willingness to play so hard. I think he is a good example for the young ones.
I have no problems if they package up Sharangovich Farrabee or Frost if they are going to make a big trade.
Lastly I think Coronado needs to be put on a line with a speedster and a tough guy. He ends up on his butt most of the time because people take advantage of him.

  9. As a Flames fan, i am completely fine with where this team is right now. Conroy has been very clear about what his plan is since he took over and every move he's made has reflected that.

I also appreciate that the work ethic is still there and they aren't mailing it in every game. I think retaining culture through a rebuild is just as important as acquiring talent.

I have zero reason to doubt the process right now.

  10. Huberdeau being a $10.5 million cap hit to 2031 and scoring at half a point per game is insanely rough. I hope the hip surgery gets him back to 100%, but I doubt he'll ever produce at the rate he was, especially when he's already 32.

  11. I ran Tankathon's sim 32 times, flames came up at the #1 slot three time, dropped below 4th roughly half the time, but never worse than 6th (which happened 4 times). Vancouver came up #1 i think it around 11-12 times (I didnt pay much attention), but a few teams outside of the bottom-8 did jump up to 1st/2nd. San Jose notably three times
