  1. The Canucks are in a full blown rebuild as announced yesterday by Jim Rutherford via the province newspaper and the globe and mail. Demko is going to be shut down for the season.

One last thing – Monahan was never a number 1 centre.

  2. I can see Carolina provided Van takes back Kotkaniemi (4 yrs left at $4.8M) to help offset the risk for Canes. Then Canes give up a couple of good futures assets too

  3. he has AHL wingers. get him some good surrounding pieces before you do something stupid like trade him, at least then you'll know if he's the problem or not

  4. Petey scored his first goal against Calgary. Down the right wall top shelf glove. Forgot who was in net. I was jumping around like a kid. Such high hopes. As a Nucks fan it feels weird. This guy is so skilled but man he just isn’t strong on the puck and just never looks engaged. With the right fit on a good team look out. I’m with Rhett though. 70-90 point players are rare. His pay might not seem bad in a few years and if we miraculously turn it around he could be a huge part of the solution.

  5. If u can bring his cap down to 7.8M, then as a habs fan i would take him and Sherwood for Dach, Laine, Reinbacher and a 1st

  6. To think that it was less than 24 months ago that Vancouver had six, SIX, players on the All-star roster, and a head coach.
Fast forward 23 months. The coach left when a position in Philly opened up. One of them left as a free agent. Two of them were traded for picks and prospects. One of them is injured so often he may as well be gone, and the last two are both mired in career low production slumps. If there was an all-star game this year, they would only get an obligatory representative, and I'm not sure who that would be. That is how you go from winning your division to last in the league in two years.
Personally, I think the bomb that blew up this team was the Pettersson contract. Everything went downhill fast after that.

  7. Do some homework and find out how much the contending teams have in cap space. Why spitball this whole conversation? It’s unprofessional.

  8. He's finally getting healthy and he's scoring again. I don't think he'll ever hit 104 points again but I do believe he'll be a consistent 80 point centerman. I don't want to trade him. Trade Demko, Sherwood, Boeser, Debrusk, Myers…
Hronek, wr paid a 1st for him and he's the right D we always needed. We keep Hronek.

  9. Trade him to WHO? Who wants him? Who wants that totally unjustified contract that pays him almost as much as Connor McDavid? Forget about it! No team wants him.

  10. i wouldnt trade him, u can get mckenna or ivar next season and he would be deadly with either

  11. Talking about guys being past it at 27 and 31…..when all 3 of these guys look like they drink mouthwash to get drunk and eat pizza for breakfast…….shut the fk up

  12. lol😂…..no team is taking this guy for anything in return……they will have trouble giving him away without some salary retention….Petey is done…..

  13. The downfall started when they traded BO Harvat, the player they had drafted and molded into the player and captain he is. He was loyal and would not ask for a trade. The Canuck's management keeps making mistake after mistake. They had all the opportunities not to sign pd40, instead hoping he would return to form with 11.3 million. But thats Canucks legacy, I still can not get over Cam Neely trade.

  14. Hes too soft for a player making over 11 mil., hes terrible on offensive boards losing puck possession constantly because he lacks strength. He's become a defensively liability as well usually out of position.

  15. Demco is done trade him. He will never be playing games like he should. He will play super but injuries will kill his value

  16. Washington still makes a lot of sense. They never replaced their last Swedish 1C and they have the cap space this summer with Ovechkin coming off and they young futures assets to move for a top line skilled forward. 100pt under 30 top line C with term just don't become available unless there's an issue so this is the only way a team like Washington gets a guy like him. Much like how Vegas got an injured Eichel.

  17. No one likes the guy on the team.. JT mumbles it was Pettersson’s work ethic, Hugh’s left and said the lack of work ethic. Imagine both of those players making so much money a season with good effect and playing with Pettersson, on that contract ? The respect for the management and organization would be basement. Plus you know your ability to make money has a clear ceiling with that contract and useless player on your line. I would want to win with Pettersson, if he isn’t productive trade me out. There’s no upward career potential for any other player.

  18. Canucks are in a rebuild, the management has said so already. The forced rebuild happened when they had to move Hughes because he was not going to sign again.

  19. TRADE HIM FAST 11 MILLION DOLLAR HUGE MISTAKE WE CAN THANK ALVIN FOR TRADED AWAY SHERWOOD FOR THIS GUY FIRE ALVIN FAST ALSO BRING IN BRENDAN SHANNAHAN TO FIX THIS MESS
