I’d rather finish last than in the middle of the league and miss the playoffs. At least if they finish like this for a few years, they can accumulate top prospects.

Would it be terrible for them to swap the 33rd and Minny pick to move up in the first and possibly have 2 in the first 15? That's what I would like them to do
I saw way too much vitriol from this fanbase to give them anything but bad wishes. Even the Flames don't hate us that much, and they have better reason, plus are funnier when they do it. This City doesn't deserve a franchise. I hope they stay in the toilet where they belong for decades.

Bad break this year with Demko. Good move shifting Quinn Hughes while possible. I think Foote is a solid coach. I don't blame him for trying to shake things up when things aren't working. E Pettersson the Elder would be tough to move. If he would change his stance on being traded, Hronek could be traded at his rate to someone like the Senators. Extend Chytil and Myers right away. Extend Raty and O'Connor if they performs better next year. Trade all of the UFAs for whatever draft picks can be had or let them go and bring up some youngsters for next season. With a healthy Demko and Tolopilo, Nucks could be a contender the year after next with a decent draft this year.

There's some silver linings here though. Foote's job security is great because who's going to want his job? Also everyone on the team gets to watch Hughes go win a Stanley Cup or two and think "I helped make that happen"

When I look at our lineup , I think "Where is the money going?" How are we so close to the cap and this is what we have to show for it? Petterson being the worst contract? I'm not even 100% sure that's true. Demko, Lankinen, Boeser are all in the running too. Even Garland goes up to 6mil, starting next year, until 2032. Also we're still paying OEL 4.7mil this year and next – and then 2mil per, for 3 years after that 🤦♂🤦♂ In the modern NHL, I would say term is far more crippling than the $$ amount, and the Canucks just love giving out extra years.

Take the high picks and just own it, its a rebuild.
Its OK to know what you are. Embrace the bad for a couple years. Canucks did well to get Buium, Orgren, Rossi + the pick from the Wild. That's a lot of young guys from one trade. There's a lot of bad contracts this team needs to unwind and its gonna take multiple years. The 'worst contract; was quote the competition here!! Several are overpaid and for too long. Get out of 1-2 bad deals per year. There's only 1/3 retentions spots used and that one ends on July 1. Ship out what isn't the future, retain as much as possible to clear things out, make the cap floor and get the biggest return.
Its not complicated, but gotta be honest about where the team is and what it will take. Its 3-4 years of being bad.
Also, 1st overall is less important this season than in most seasons. Just get a top 3 pick and get it right.

As a Capitals fan, I think it's reasonable to say that Lankinen is about equal to Charlie Lindgren. So it's quite strange to me that Vancouver gave him 5 years 22.5 million while Lindgren got 3 years 9 million. The two goalies seem to be about even in value/skill to me. So yeah, that contract seems like a huge overpayment.
I'm gonna keep saying it until one of them gets traded, but I think Carolina should trade Kotkaniemi and Nadeau for Elias Pettersson.
With Canucks luck even if select at number 1 he will be a bust OR he is a superstar and wants out after his ELC

The Canucks are cursed by the hockey gods, because they have a short sighted ownership. God doesn’t like people taking shortcuts.
Rossi is injured as usual, Buium is a decent prospect but may never get to Hughes level. So Ogrehn is really the only Hail Mary player that they got from that trade. Otherwise they need a complete start over from top to bottom.

Canucks are tanking, also this teams ownership is cheap and god awful.
I think the biggest issue is getting rid of people who want to be here. Horvat wanted to stay. Toffoli would have stayed, I think letting Joshua go for peanuts to bring Kane in instead was a mistake. I'd even say not sticking with Trevor Linden in management was a huge mistake. Glad Hughes and Miller are gone if they didn't want to be here.
