I think if they get a top 5 pick (mainly a top 2) they have the chance to have an Islanders like resurgence. I just think they need an injection of youth but they'll still somehow find a way to put McKenna or Stenberg on the 3rd line with no PP time so nevermind.
Rangers should trade Igor to Montreal for fowler and hage, it's a move that could greatly benefit both teams , Montreal would have to send back some salary to make a trade work tho
As happy as I am that the Ducks got to benefit from all this drama it is still a shame it's happening at all. I do think it's clear this gm needs to go if anything's going to truly change. He has been the cause of so many players leaving the team that I'm willing to bet no one left is sure their spot is safe and it's effecting how they play. Coach ain't the problem he just got there and I feel kinda bad he's gotta deal with this mess.
The worst thing the Rangers can do, is to start winning games after the break. Playoffs are meaningless. You have a 50% chance of making them with no games played. If the Rangers are smart they continue to tank Until Mika's contract expires. Then in 2030 they build with picks. It would be a long time, sure, but I would rather have a solid team capable of winning a cup, rather than a team that just wants to get eliminated in the first play off round. They are going to need a new coach as well. There is a HUGE difference of a return to playoffs vs a team capable of winning the cup. The will need to trade igor to get there, for sure. Igor is just Hank 2.0.
Chris Drury is a dreadful evaluator of talent and a poor relationship manager. He shipped off guys like Buchnevich, Kreider, and Panarin and got back pennies on the dollar for them, while he targets players like Borgen, Sheary, Soucy, Raddysh, and a washed up JT Miller. He also destroyed that locker room. The Rangers need to find someone who is capable of running an NHL club.

Nothing good will come with Drury as GM. Even if he makes the right moves, there is too much poison behind the scenes. Drury crossed too many lines in how he treats players. Owner, a very unlikable man who actively holds back the Knicks, publicly supporting him means that taint will remain even if they remove Drury. In the past, Dolan stayed away from being active in managing his hockey property, it seems like Drury's blowhard chest thumping nasty antics to get around the spirit of the CBA got him excited. As badly run as the Canucks only they have built in advantage of being in NYC, which attracts talent. One Cup since 1940 in terrible.
What do you mean Quick is not going anywhere? Why wouldn't he bet traded to a team that has an injured goalie?

To an outsider it looks that there has been a long time management problem. They should have traded Zibanejad at the same time with Kakko OR changed the management. After Gallant left, team effort just died.
Rangers should "TRADE" their GM since he is the cause of all this drama.
This has been a problem since henrik lundqvist was playing for the team any true Ranger fan will see the front office has always had issues and ironically Drury was working with the front office prior to being a gm around a decade or so and now Hartford looks like there’s no future nhlers there for a while because of how horrible the developmental staff have been so if drury and Dolan want any changes they better put the big boy pants and start cleaning house otherwise it’s going to be a never ending cycle of an abysmal
I love this video even though I hate the harsh truths it exposes. A quick retool on the fly isn't going to be good enough to contend for the cup, but owner and management and scouting are terrible and they don't know how to reset a team, I don't see the Rangers contending without institutional changes. LGR but I gotta be honest they have to suck for a couple of years just to build up draft capital and we all know how their last few top draft picks have worked out. So I think the franchise is doomed to fall short as long as Dolan owns the team.
This season's NYR look like the Canucks of last season, the roster looks solid on paper with a handful of gamebreakers, but for some reason they just couldn't put it together. I sense there's some drama no one knows about in the locker room, and it probably has to do with JT Miller…

absolutely agree when it comes to trochek. He deserved the C. It never sat well with me that an incoming trade would get the captaincy. JT Miller never earned being Rangers captain. I was not excited to see JT come back and this is why. he doesn't have the character makeup to be a good captain. things don't go his way and he throws a tantrum and pouts. He thought he was Millennial Messier but it's not working out.
Drury is grossly incompetent. Anyone else on any other team would have been kicked to the curb long ago. But remember, this is the same man-child owner who did not get rid of Isaiah Thomas until a scandal hit; never mind the glaring fact that Thomas sucked big time at his job. And thus, the Drury-Dolan Saga continues.
Trocheck is their most valuable asset…A Center…Produce offense…Strong on faceoffs…Physical…A prototype playoff player…Years of term and a great contract…Needs to bring back a first round pick and either a top prospect or a valuable young player off the roster…We have leverage here…Only a modified no-trade clause and we don't have to move him…Unfortunately Drury is still in charge.
With some zibanejad ans miller as their best players how did rangers ever think they are gonna do anything? They shoudlve just given up way earlier and try to get rid of zibanejad, miller and panarin to have good career in somewere else to try on pile either decent prospects and picks. Cause that roster is terrible. If they just want to keep on going for playoffa why not then strengten the core correctly? All they had was panarin and fox
Easy. The problem with the Rangers is the fact, that they do not possess top six talent but the fan base overrates the young talent. This retool means, hoping the veterans fall off while the hope Brady Tkachuk is overpaid as a UFA in a few seasons. 😂
Mika Zibanejad stays because his contract has NMC, $18M/2 yrs left. Rangers will definitely move Trochet, which sucks because he is a great Ranger.
Lafreniere, Laba, Cuyle, Perreault are 3rd liners. The Rangers never drafted top six talent.
A step in the right direction: RD Keaton Verhoeff is gonna be a great addition to the team. I can’t see Adam Fox playing on the top line anymore.

It got exposed in Tampa…exposed in Jersey…then exposed in Florida. Drury had cap, picks etc & drove the franchise out the sky. Hugging prospects instead of powering up to compete with those deep teams. Lets the player boss him around. Trouba playing on 1 leg (one of the worst captains ever) instead of cheating the cap like others did to acquire a Guentzel etc. acquires kane and then pushes him out like it was his problem. I wont care ab this team until that POS Drury is gone. Since I was too young and wasnt invested in hockey to experience the Dark Ages of 00s ima get it 10x worse now.
As a rangers fan things I want to see down the stretch:
1. Berard in the top 6 (I think he's got real potential and is such a hard worker)
2. Dylan Garand up, Spencer Martin down. Can't be much worse than Martin anyway.
3. Don't trade Vinny Trochek. Agree should be the captain but totally fine with the A for Vinny.
4. Acquire another 1st round pick. Idk how they do it but would love another 1st in a deeper draft class

As a Canadiens fan I fully support giving Drury a life time contract as the Rangers' GM.
The Rangers' window to win the Cup is over. If they can they should look to accumulate as many first and second round picks and solid prospects as they can. This means any player, including Fox and Shesterkin, should be traded if their contract allows it.

As a Rangers fan I like the rebuild. Shesterkin Fox Gavrikov very good foundation. I Know it'll take few yrs but getting a Top3 pick this yr + Stars 1st rd pick and returns from Trocheck Schneider and possibly Lafreniere returns will get the pieces for good 5 yr run starting 2028
The rangers have had a 5v5 and weak top 6 issue all the way back to 2023, it was getting masked by elite special teams and great goaltending. Instead of recognizing that they didn’t have a cup chance, and retooling back then, it has completely crashed now. At this point you can’t retool you can only rebuild. Drury talks about it like it’s his choice but doesn’t read the situation well at all
The fact that an original 6 team which existed for 100 years only won 4 cups is quite surprising
Looking forward to a lengthy playoff drought for them. But never bad enough to get the first overall pick again.
