Need to fix draft before trying to figure out leadership on bubble playoff team.
Zegras came here and put the team on his back with his enthusiasm and play on the ice.
The lack of true leadership has not stepped up to drive the other 19 players to give 100% for 60mins+/game.
Coots has always seemed too reserved for this role & I was saying as much when he got the C.
Our culture has been habitual mediocrity for 15 years. It’s time for a change. Sometimes you have to take two steps back before you make one leap forward. Until we get a top dman ,a center and a hard nosed leader like a Clarke or Pronger, we will remain this vanilla mediocre team.
To be a captain you've got to atleast be generally productive on the ice. Couts is not and has not been for a long time now. TK is atleast productive and can stand on that when players question him.
Coots needs to be a healthy scratch. I'd rather start D-Lo at C

It is a shame that Couturier, Konecny, and Sanheim learned about leadership from Giroux (very good player. Not a good leader) and not from Pronger.
“CuLtUrE” is the most overused and harmful words in hockey team building. Winning games and talent builds cUlTuRe.
Couturier is not a great choice for Captain, they are completely lacking in the leadership department.. Does anyone on this team remind you of Pronger, Richards, Lindros, Primeau? Not even a little bit.. hopefully a guy like that is traded in soon.
Tochette looking worn out on post games with all these losses’ this team is still a long way from being in playoffs’ if this season is going nowhere they should bring up some of these young guys and give them a look
Why don't they think of Chris Pronger? As a coach of some sort, like power play coach. Guy was never afraid to make his teammates accountable for mistakes. He also quarterbacked power plays his whole career, teach sanheim how to do that…
What’s happening now to the Flyers is the best thing that could happen. They need to suck to get into the top end of the draft. Otherwise, we’ll just be spinning our wheels like we did during Claude Giroux era. Another year or two plus this year getting into the top 5. I’m so sick of hearing about Buffalo in Edmonton and how long they sat at the bottom for while the Flyers have never done that ever. We have never drafted in consecutive years in the top five. Might as well try something different. Leave your pride at the door as a fan if you wanna win a Stanley Cup one day.
Go trade for Robert Thomas and another defender, get some new high end talent in here to change the culture.

I am so tired of hearing about Flyers culture as if they have exclusive rights to culture. Flyers culture hasn't won squat in 50 plus years. You think teams like Florida, Colorado, Tampa Bay don't have culture? Talent, and especially winning, breeds culture.

Whoa! Hold up on Sanheim. Sean C*ntourier is soft as baby diarrhea, he was misused by the Flyers in his youth and ruined physically but he is absolutely thee worst captain in Flyers history. Always at odds for some reason with the coach, regardless of what coach. He made a big “i’m tired of losing” statement and has lead by example and that’s why they suck as much as he does. He’s a man baby,he’ll cry about this comment by Tocchett as well.
A decent backup goalie that isnt a sieve would have been nice, that 5 million in cap space isn’t a badge of honor when you could have signed a decent goalie for 2 mil

I am a flyers fan because they’re the closest and most convenient team to root for where I live and I get free tickets and occasional free merchandise. I do not like anything else about the team. I am not a flyers fan in the sense that I actually go out of my way to be one and actually enjoy being one. They’re run so bad! I ask for two things every night for all of my sports teams I root for. 1. An honest effort each game.
2. A smart game plan/ team chemistry. That’s it. In hockey, you need team chemistry more than anything. Those blind passes, those blind plays you don’t need to see because you just know where everything is. The flyers do not have that factor and they haven’t even made an attempt to build that factor for quite some time.
“Keep this rebuild going”. Yeah, sorry dude, there is no rebuild.
Stop hiring good ol’ boys, AKA former Flyers. Tocchet. Briere. Jones. Hextall. Berube. Stop it. Stop it, stop it, stop it.
They tried to change the culture when Torts was hired but kept almost everyone. They're rebuilding but not taking it apart. They care more about short term butts in seats than to rip the band aid off and burn it down for long term success. What does drafting 12th every year get you? Reaching at the draft for average at best players gets you where they are now. A team full of 2nd and 3rd line players.
