The gold medal game was what the all-star game wishes it was. The speed and tenacity of that gold medal game was phenomenal!
This loss further proves Connor McDavid is not a good leader. The team looked flat without Crosby the past 2 games compared to the other games played. Even with the attempts they had all game against USA they still looked flat. Toughness beats talent in hockey and USA was the tougher team. Look at the past 2 years who won the Stanley cup. The tough Florida panthers not the flashy big named talented Edmonton Oilers. Toughness comes from the captain and the team will rally behind that. Not an emotional, all for their self hot head like mcdavid. It’s a disgrace to give him the Captain position whenever there’s far better leaders on the team that have actually won the Stanley cup!!!

DK idk how you’re saying it’s not as simple as Sid not wearing the C and Connor McDavid being captain isn’t the reason they lost ? Lazy play from that bum is routine at this point you have never seen Crosby as lazy and self centered of a player as he is even in dull moments I’ve never seen Sid just give up on plays the way he does. I guarantee you his non existent personality other than throwing temper tantrums at players gave the team anything to work off of. I bet he was quiet as a mouse the whole time because he can’t be his Edmonton “McJesus” way where he can do no wrong and down talk to his team it’s different when he’s around superstars. It’s the same as Ovetchkin they’re both self centered lazy players that are not good leaders at all… and leaders lead by example how would you like to be playing behind a guy that just gives up on plays whenever things don’t go his way. There’s a reason why Sid has 3 cups, it took ovetchkin almost his whole career to get 1 and McDavid has 0. With all of this being said McDavid and Ovetchkin are both great Hockey players some of the best but they are horrific team captains

Given that the gold medal game yesterday was probably the fastest, highest intensity hockey game ever played, I totally understand Sid and Team Canada’s decision not to have him play if he wasn’t 100%. He really couldn’t have been a factor if he wasn’t able to keep up with the ridiculous pace of play we saw in yesterday’s game.
That being said, I really think Team Canada missed his leadership, demeanor, and his play, especially in tight situations in the offensive zone.
I’m glad Canada lost for 2 reasons. Reason 1 it makes Crosby look good. For people to even ask the question if they would’ve won if they had Crosby speaks volumes. Reason 2 Crosby is a very smart guy, very humble and I’m sure he’s having doubts as he’s getting older about his game but this proves he’s a major difference maker in play and still the best overall hockey player in the league. This should light a fire under his ass to want to get a cup this year and shouldn’t leave him with any doubts about his game. How poetic would it be if they meet the oilers in the finals and they lose to Crosby and skinner oh how I’d love to see it. But my money is on a MacKinnon and Crosby Stanley cup final. Time will tell but the penguins are the real deal and Crosby is still the biggest deal in hockey and will continue to be. Mark my words Sidney Crosby will be wearing the big C on a red Jersey in 2030 and they will win if he stays healthy throughout the tournament.
This is why i constantly say anytime someone says mcdavid is the best player in the world, no he is not, sid at 38 is still the best player. In the biggest games at the biggest moments mcdavid has NOT DELIVERD

Good morning DK, as a Canadian living on the west coast and one who has been watching reports, reading reports, and on social media regarding our Gold metal loss to the USA, I can tell you that your expectations of the reporters, fans, and everything else regarding taking shots at Sid for not playing is quite belittling. Come on, be better than that Dejan. It's generally why I've listened to your show for over a year and half daily, plus most Double Shots I listen to also. Now, I do totally agree with you on the perception Toronto, as a whole, and the Leafs believe they're " the center of the world" It drives pretty much every other Canadian crazy!!! Their arrogance, and their horrible media who feeds this perception, is beyond. Matthews has a Gold, because teammates, I'm thrilled for Mitch to get out of there. My ending point, to just flip "if they up there" ……. because Toronto's media? Maybe a couple boneheads? We Canadians LOVE OUR SON SID, we are so proud of the person he is, the character he carries, his integrity, and then speak of how he approaches hockey with so much passion, drive, humility, and cheer love and respect for the game. We've been watching him and cheering him on since news started breaking out about this 8 or 9 year old kid way back when. We know who Sid is before the Penguins did. So many Penguin fans are Canadian….. hmmm, Mario and Sid might have something to do with that 🤔 I could easily shoot off a general statement about "them down there if they say anything…..well, they don't know their football, baseball, etc" I won't because by now in life, I'm 51, it would be just immature pettiness to make some generalization about a whole country's media because of possibly a few. Canada was clearly the better team & should’ve won. I didn’t expect that. I thought the US form was looking really good & ready to challenge Canada. But none of the player’s on Canada’s team had the clutch gene. Both 29 & 97 choked badly. Sid even at his age is still the best player on the squad. Canada has no player to replace him. It will be another generation or so before a player of his ilk is found. Sid has incredible intangibles that isn’t readily found. He is such an incredible player.
Said it before, absolutely mean it 100%. Not that having Sid would have won Canada yesterday's game… but I would gladly trade Sid getting hurt, even a career ending injury, if it meant Canada wouldn't get gold.
Love the Pens. Love Sid as a player and a human being, but seeing Canada fail to get gold in both men's and women's hockey was too delicious for words.
Crosby would have at least tried to find a teammate in OT. McDavid tried to do it himself both times he had the puck in OT, lost it both times, and pretty much screened his own goalie on the golden goal.

there is no doubt Canada has gold today with a healthy Sid. in 3v3 he's not ever on the wrong side of the puck.. esp in an elimination game..

Any team would miss Sid not being in the lineup. Hes a generational talent and if anyone says different they don’t know the game
