@Penguins de Pittsburgh

He’s been insanely good and looks completely confident in net.

Silovs has grown a lot as a goalie, it makes me proud fr

Goalies run hot and cold, you need a large sample size to judge them but fans only ever care about the last few games either way.

Who was running him out of town? He’s a more than capable backup on a nothing contract. Happy to have him.

  5. anonymou38

I doubted him earlier this year but he’s been fantastic lately!

  6. I don’t remember anyone running him out of town. He was a little inconsistent and stinks in the shootout, but fans usually liked him over Jarry. He’s still an .897 sv% goalie (before today).

I hate how today in sports, everything is framed as an underdog story or shutting up haters, when teams/players perform as expected or slightly better.

  7. Silovs and Murashov next season will be great for us!

Honestly the issue is he’s been bad at shootouts but people are also realizing we never score in them anyways so it’s a moot point.

You take away his shootout struggles and he’s been very good overall this year

Dan Muse should win coach of the year and I don’t think it should be close. They said we’d be a lottery team. Now we’re Top 6 in P% in the whole league. Dubas also deserves GM of the year for all of his fantastic moves.

Arty definitely gets a lot of hate for his shootout performances but our shooters except maybe Chinny have been dogshit. He’s done great for his first full NHL season.

  10. Its all ahout defense baby. People shit of goalies even when they are put in shit situation after shit situation. Silovs is thriving. Lets go pens!- written from inside cafe cafe on fifth after a pens game

As beloved as Stu is amongst the fanbase, I think the smart move here is to flip him and ride it out with Silovs and Mursy/Blom. There are no shootouts in the playoffs, so he should be a fine option come April/May/June(?)

When did people want to run him out of town?

The person that gave Silovs the most crap and the least grace in all of the Pens fandom was Dejan Kovacevic. Early in the season he was burying him and I think every episode of his daily shot he found a way to talk about how Silovs “isn’t NHL caliber.”

He still consistently talks about how Skinner should be the number 1 and how goalie rotation doesn’t work…

It’s technically Silovs’ rookie season. It’s at least his first whole season. I think it’s wild that anyone was ready to dump him. Remember Dubas also got him for a 4th because Vancouver didn’t want him going to Edmonton.

Great job today by Arty! LETS GO PENS!!!!

Did people want to run him out of town? He’s young and signed to a decent contract so I always figured he’d be a 1B or at worst a decent backup.

Not to mention this year everyone expected a full blown tank-job

I mean, all season he’s been usually solid for 60 minutes and in OT. He seems to have issues with the shootouts, but I don’t think anyone wanted him run out of town for that. The lack of shootout success is a valid criticism, but all-in-all he’s been very good.

I remember when a young Fleury was giving up rebounds like a trampoline in the net. Silovs looks great. Just give him time and he can be even more sensational.

His season save percentage is under 0.900. Let’s calm down here.
