Regula is worth a shot. No reason to get Mangiapane unless Oilers attach something with him.

  2. DialedDrawback

Am I safe to assume that any deal they make won’t involve the Leafs since the Leafs do in fact have the ability to absorb Mangiapane’s contract? Maybe Brad didn’t like the idea of taking the salary on?

I guess they have another trade target in mind with a team that doesn’t have, or doesn’t want, Mangiapane’s deal,

So there’s mention of a couple things in the Oilers sub:

    1. Mangiapane has a NTC, but not a NMC, so he can be claimed on waivers by anyone, but can’t be straight up traded to anyone.
    2. There are a couple guys whose performance bonuses get deferred to next year if they’re on the roster when they place Janmark on LTIR, so freeing up two roster spots will allow the callups and their cap deferrals to take affect. Those players can then be sent back down willy nilly.

dude mange stinks . he’s tiny, has 7g 7a -19… I mean he’s perfect for the tank, but he’s no long term solution by any means

Time for Brad to claim another former Flame

A defenceman under 30?  We don’t do that here.

  7. Skiffy10

taking on his salary right before trade deadline would be idiotic

Honestly please claim them so we have extra assets for the next gm to do a retool

I fully expect a Jeff Finger situation where Treliving thinks he’s getting someone else.

The only thing to do here is overreact.

Don’t touch this Leafs. Play Cowan, Quillan and some of the other kids.

I think you need to put on unconditional waivers before a release.

Haven’t read this specficially in relation to Mangiapanne (nor in this thread) but I would assume if they are putting a player like this on waivers, it is before a release. Surprised that they couldn’t trade him with a 3rd rounder and a bit of retention for future considerations.

I always find it fascinating how you can at times and not at times predict NHL outcomes from Junior production. This guy had 41 goals and 61 assists for the Barrie Colts in his draft year (2015) and was taken in the 6th round. And is now not roster worthy. It just shows how exceptionally VERY good you have to be to not only make it to the show, but to succeed long term.
