I think oel is the best option depending on the price. Great contract and would be perfect for a 15 minutes 3rd pair role who can play higher in the lineup if needed.

I've been lobbying for Thomas soon after he was a possibility to be traded.This move will be difference of playoff contention and cup contender.. To have that kind of talent down the middle will be dominating.i would be willing to to trade Helenius in a player part of a deal to win now with this group

But Sabres would need to give up Levi, power , heleniius, ostlund, or Byram…so you won’t have a pairing and linemates you are seeing in your scenarios
Honestly, I'm big on Thomas for two reasons. One…he's really good. Two…it keeps him away from Montreal or Boston for 5 years! Go get him!

Ideal trade would be Norris , Ellis OR Levi and a first round pick for Thomas but I doubt very much that St louis has interest in the injury prone Norris.

Why? I do not rate Thomas and Faulk is past his sell-by date. He was a great D-man, but years ago.
Thomas is a quality player tho he does have injuries in his history. Rather than upset the offense i think a quality defender is a better move.
