If Logan was ever going to make a case that he can handle 2C, it's been every game since the break. I think adding at center still makes sense for the most lineup configuration options going into the playoffs.
Because of what happened last year, this team really needs to consider adding depth D.
I think the 2nd line, more specifically Hall, is doing well since they rested over the Olympic break. Getting a 2nd line center is the best move to spread out Hall’s ice time and keep him fresh in a long playoff run.
If they do nothing then that means our GM doesn't think we can win the cup this year. As it currently stands, this team cannot win a 7 game series against Tampa.
I'm not pounding the table for a player like Robert Thomas. What I am expecting is for the front office to bring in more muscle to this group. Notice how several other playoffs teams are adding 6'8 6'6 230 lbs monsters right now. Dallas now has a line with 6'7 and 6'8 Tyler Myers. Getting Trochek or Thomas is tough and i'm not expecting it. But they need to get some depth and muscle to protect our small guys and to supply some sand paper for a playoff run
It's a bad year for trying to trade. Too many buyers which means overpaying. That being said, i don't think this line up gets to the cup finals, much less wins it. It's not personal. I like everyone on the team, but i also know how playoffs have gone past few years
We have way to many forwards under 6 feet. We need size. I know Rod doesn’t want big guys. But we always seem to get pushed around in the playoffs
I don't see a great move out there…….I can make a case this team is a move away from being Cup ready…in most years….but not sure that move is out there now.
they need a 2nd line center no matter what anyone says. Fixes multiple problems. They have to make a trade. Luckily there are lots of options so Canes dont have to break the bank. Definitely kick the tires on Matthews from Toronto but if we can't get him or price is too high there are many other guys out there. There are 5 or 6 decent 2Cs on the market should be able to snag any of them. Even if you like Stankoven as 2C its good to have another guy as both injury insurance (we are only 1 injury away from Kokiemi being needed) or also lineup flexibility. I really think our 2nd line is mismatch both ways. Some teams it works great and they can't keep up, other teams bully our 2nd line. So add another center and we can stay flexible but more dangerous. If you get the 2nd center then for instance if you need a wing guy, if someone gets hurt you can move Stankoven back to wing and put new piece at Center. We HAVE to make a move though but there are options just don't get ripped off.
