Perron has more points this season than Garland. Have fun with 6 more years of that contract CBJ

  2. mattfenn1

Older and slower at the deadline is a thing. It’s not my thing. I think it really tells how bad our bottom 6 is that Perron could possibly be an upgrade at this point in his career. I imagine one could pull up posts from 2 years ago about him being slow and taking bad penalties in the last 5 minutes of games. It says something when the best way this works out is that he’s in the locker room and never makes it on the ice.

    Merry Yzer-mas!

Hope everyone enjoyed their DP stocking stuffer.

  4. Robert Thomas and Justin Faulk
    Or
    Trocheck and Fox

  5. amethystgirl2006

I like the Perron sigining. Not just for locker room vibes but Finnie and Kasper are natural successors for learning Perron’s shit-stirrer playstyle

  6. i-like-carbs-

I ate burritos for dinner six days in a row.

  7. FlannelMickey

Now mfers will think twice about crosschecking Larkin unless they want their face crosschecked by DP.

  8. Old-News-3096

I hope Buffalo is done after their Parayko Plan B. I guess they went for quantity over quality and hope that 1 of those 2 guys fits, but they have 1 Right handed NHL D and its Kesselring who has been injured and inconsistent this season. Dont see how their trade helps them at all

    Carrick deal is fine though

  9. LGRW_Sparty88

I’m hoping for Hamilton, the high cap hit could keep the price down. Would help the D but let us hang onto the first to either make a big swing at top 6 pieces today or use it in the summer/make the pick.

  10. Trade Grade: C+

Prior to Perron going out for surgery at the end of January he’d scraped together 10g 15a for 25pts. That puts him at 7th on the team in points and 6th in goals.

He’s a UFA at the end of the season. He’s 37 so he isn’t getting re-signed (famous last words, right?) and he only cost a conditional 4th (Columbus’) which will likely bump to a 3rd (Detroit’s) and he brings the vibes, is gritty, and wins board battles.

His success on his second tour with the wings is going to depend on how quickly he can get back to game speed and his deployment. He’s not the big sexy trade we hoped for but he will improve the lineup if everything goes right.

  11. SaintOrJannikSinner

Pretty sure I was driving behind Keats on my way into Birmingham yesterday morning. Couldn’t snap a pic because we were hitting all the greens and that’d be irresponsible.

  12. FatuousOocephalus

Is there any news on whether Gibson is playing tonight?

  13. CobraPsych

I’m sure nobody will say anything crazy today as the deadline passes and during the game

  14. Dr_Doomblade

Hey Mr Yzerman make a trade for me

I’m not sleepy and there’s one big trade left to do

  15. tibbles1

Let us be grateful Steve isn’t panicking and trading real assets for guys like Stanley and Schenn.

  16. Beatricejd

Perron meh but ok. Hate that deal for Buffalo, so glad it isn’t us.

  17. lunchboxthegoat

Stephen, be a doll and fetch me a Robert Thomas and an OEL.

  18. pistolpete9669

I’d rather overpay for OEL than VT, but what do I know

  19. BellsBeersy

Slightly concerned that even if we somehow land one of the 2C guys we’re linked to, that we won’t do anything to address the defense which imo is a more glaring issue

  20. N_Unit13

I’m hoping Malkin gets a decent suspension for that whack yesterday cause that will probably hurt the penguins and maybe they’ll just swap spots with Columbus

  21. Fun-Veterinarian4853

Realistically, what would you guys like to see get done today

  22. PremierBromanov

    Aren’t the ducks still rebuilding

  23. detroitttiorted

It’s been said before but just a note, when we send Shine down today it doesn’t mean something is imminent. It’s a weird AHL eligibility rule

  24. Kyta_ENT

We need a defenseman Stevie, what the Faulk are you waiting for?

  25. Alpine_Exchange_36

It is kind of crazy how the Atlantic completely flipped this year. Florida and Toronto being the last place teams and Buffalo on an all time heater.

  26. KilledByDeath

The Perron trade makes sense. Crazy that he’d be points leader of our bottom 6, but here we are.

  27. duelingdog

No one should be surprised, but Elliott saying NYR aren’t moving Trocheck if they don’t get what they want for him

I’m guessing they’re probably looking for something close to the package Buffalo put out for Parayko.

  28. Prudent_Shame_4531

I really like Kane and the aura he brings, but it seems like he’s lost a step this year. I’ll be interested to see who comes back next year out of Kane, JVR, and Perron. Cap space probably isn’t a factor, but bringing back all 3 isn’t practical given the need for PK guys and kids who need roster spots. JVR is probably the odd man out, and we’ll see how the rest of Perron’s season goes.

  29. Dart_Harnlin

Boys need a W tonight. The bruins lost in reg last night but the sabres continue their hot streak and the blue jackets got a W and inched closer to that final WC spot.

    It’s gonna be a wild 20 games

  30. lunchboxthegoat

gotta say, I did not see the caps trading carlson. good on the Ducks for pouncing on the opportunity to take a mostly wide open division

  31. Fun-Veterinarian4853

55 million in cap space and in 3rd place in the tightest division in the NHL. I know it’s been slow building the team but i think that’s an incredible sign for things to come and we have the ability to make some serious splashes at future deadlines

  32. datsyukiandekes13

Now that 37 year old DP is back, may I also make a Ken Holland move and strap the skates back onto Dan Cleary again?

  33. Prudent_Shame_4531

I know the kids benefit a ton from dominating in the AHL and getting that playoff experience, and it’s generally a bad idea to yo-yo guys between the AHL and NHL. If we aren’t able to upgrade our forward group via trade, it’s gotta be tempting to bring MBN back up to see what he can do. He looks electric right now and would be an immediate upgrade over several guys who are “just jerseys.”
