Bye Soda, I’ll miss you large man

  2. jsu9575m

Id have to think we are opening up a roster spot / using this 3rd as part of another deal..

  3. DetroitZamboniMI

There has to be more here. He wasn’t drawing into the lineup a whole lot but does that mean there’s another move on the horizon?

  4. cows1100

Gotta think the pick is being flipped as part of a deal yet to be seen. I’ll wait until 3pm and see what happens.

  5. BellsBeersy

Are we flipping this pick or are we sellers all of a sudden

  6. The optimist in me wants to believe this is to free up space for a bigger trade to come.

The realist in me is just happy it wasn’t for Future Considerations.

  7. Man I liked soda. I still had hope he could turn into a 40 point guy

  8. N_Unit13

Not bad for a 6th rounder. I’ll miss yah Soda

  9. MemeLordOverKill

They’re gonna put him with chinakov and malkin and it’s gonna be a hilarious and fun line

  10. ShackledPhoenix

Little sad to see Soda go but lets be real, he wasn’t fitting into a full time slot in our lineup. Getting a 3rd for him isn’t bad, especially if it’s another trade chip to pick up a difference maker.

This is like fifteen 9/11s for me personally

  12. Suspicious_Walrus682

Flipped a fringe player drafted in the 6th round into a 3rd round pick.

  13. Low_Initiative_275

We all knew Soda was being traded since he’s been healthy scratched the past couple of games it was just a matter of how and where. This looks like possible posturing for a bigger move.

  14. Farewell, Soda!

Hope this is part of something else, we don’t need to be trading for picks at the moment.

  15. bestprocrastinator

I loved him, but let’s be real, he had enough chances to prove he belonged long long term.

    But turning a 6th into a 3rd ain’t bad.

  16. Alone-Ad-8902

At least he can get some ice time. He’s an NHL player, but couldn’t get that regular spot

  17. LeadingStill7717

I had high hopes for Elmer. 24, he’s just a kid.

  18. Shills_for_fun

I miss his long reach. Was able to power through defenders. But something was dropping off here in Detroit and I wish him only best best.

Shame, I liked him, he’s struggled mightily but there was always the possibility he’d put everything together and be the unicorn huge guy with great hands I hoped he could be.

Didn’t realise he had 3 points this year though, yike. A 3rd is pretty good.

So we swapped Elmer for an injured Perron and also upgraded a 4th to a 3rd in the process. What an exciting trade deadline haha

I liked him but he never impressed outside of a few moments. Would have liked to see him play a bit more with his size. Good luck to him.

  22. OK_Turnover2

Definitely good for him… guaranteed playing time instead of getting buried here. Hope to see him firm up his defensive play.

Not a bad trade; gives him a chance and in return a draft pick.

  23. ChaldenesTitan

I thought he would rival Ericssons looks when he gets older. Now I can bring my future wife to the games.

  24. doltron3030

surprisingly great return, glad to see us finally move a fringe guy rather than letting them gradually fade until they’re waived like Berggren

  25. GiantDongDK

Feel pretty meh about losing Soda but I guess if he was never going to move past being in limbo between healthy scratch and 4th liner then it’s best to get something for him.

  26. ElleCerra

He was on pace for 6 pts over 82 games btw.

  27. AppearanceOdd1744

Hey remember when we were being told that the future is building up our young talent and then we traded Elmer for a frequently injured guy almost in his 40s who already signed somewhere else once?

Don’t get me wrong, I don’t hate the fact that we got David Perron back. I liked him when he was here. But we have so many guys at the tail end of their career who were once a big deal offensively that seeing another one added is just deflating.
