Liljegren was given too big a role on Sharks, so he didn’t do great. A lot of boneheaded mistakes. SJS needed to make room for high-end D prospects.
It coulda been future considerations for all I care, im just so glad Liljegren is off the team

Liljegren is the perfect 6th defenseman because when he's on the ice, he can get the puck out of the zone with a decent pass.
Asking him to do anything besides that first pass on 3rd pair minutes is criminal.

This has to be Ovechkin's final season. GM Patrick said this team is in transition to get younger. You can't get younger if you're signing a 41 year old to a contract extension. You need the spot and you need the cap space. You need to be able to play these prospects and the team needs to get younger and hungrier. The Ovechkin era is over.
