He didn’t say the retool would last until the trade deadline this is going to be continuous into next year

  2. the-gonk2

I don’t where the opinion that « the trade deadline marks the end of a re-tool » is coming from… and I want like 10 guys from the FO and Coaching staff gone

  3. NYCSportsFan

What would be your complaint if he traded Trocheck?

  4. I’m far from a Drury defender but it’s not like he can’t make trades in the summer. If he doesn’t trade or make significant moves after that, then it would be insane.

  5. SmokyMetal060

Me when the retool isn’t done in 3 months: 😡😡😡

  6. SEND_ME_SPIDERMAN

You’re gonna have to be a little more patient. Trading for the sake of trading is bad business.

  7. UdderlyDemented

Look I’m on board with firing Drury, but the Panarin trade was the best return we could have gotten for Panarin.

  8. JJTheRetro

There was no way Panarin was coming back next season. The writing was on the wall from the second Kaprizov signed the huge extension for next season. The Rangers didn’t have the money or the time for it, so the only logical step was to deal him if/when they were out of a position to compete. We can argue all we want about the return, but if anyone thinks trading him at all was a mistake, go ask the Islanders how they felt once Tavares ran off to Toronto in free agency

At some point, you as a fan do actually have to take responsibility. This is a lukewarm take from a weak fan. Grab your nuts bud.

Complains about the letter, Complains about moving players, Complains about not moving players.

JFC we just blew Philly out of the water last night and 4 of our 6 goals came from players under 25. Can we take one goddamned day off from the shitposting?

  11. Marty-Party1297

This isn’t NHL 26 retools can’t be done in a year. Troch has 3 years left on his deal, we still have 2 more trade deadlines to listen to deals on him

  12. McGrathLegend

I’m convinced that Drury himself is making all of these over-saturated Drury posts to get people to stick up for him

  13. -RomeoZulu-

League leading Impatience per 60 stat right here

  14. Retooling can take more than a season fellas…. Buckle up.

  15. Look I get it, but Othmann actually fell and Panarin was going to walk unless we dropped top dollar for a re-signing with whatever term he was looking for. I wanted a big return too, but with his FA in the summer, he had leverage to dictate his trade and teams had their reasons to not deliver hard returns for a pending FA. Panarin was amazing throughout and definitely the best signing for the Rangers in the last decade, but you’re cherry picking those things right here.

  16. HereticsSpork

Found the guy who has no fucking clue how anything works.

A retool takes longer than 2-3 months dingus.

  17. geographyofnowhere

Yeah man wish we had an old kreider on this team and his big salary cap hit.

I said this a month ago

    > It’s not a rebuild because drury’s not going to trade trocheck or Schneider or laf. Trocheck and Schneider are his boys. Trading Laf would mean he has to admit to a big signing mistake that tanked what little value Laf had. Every other major player has NMCs. He’s done with the big moves, unless another JT-like trade falls into his lap.

    >It’s a “retool” in name only because it’s just business-as-usual, but he needs to give season ticket holders a reason to keep re-upping after giving away the team’s best skater, and having already traded away most of the youth and prospects already the past few seasons, the well’s gone dry. He’ll just be making moves with the non-impact, low value players like he’s been doing this whole time.

  19. Rell_Lauren

Should have got Zegras out of those trades.

  20. Spidey5292

I think some fans also have to accept that we don’t have a ton of talent to turn into high end picks and prospects as well.

Drury sucks and should be fired but we aren’t really dealing from a position of strength.

  21. PapaQuebec23

Drury is deserving of the clown makeup and shoes, but:

    1) Kreider was traded to free up money to buy a defenseman. We got a steal in Gavrikov
    Kreider scored 30 P (22 G, 8 A) Gavs has 27 (12, 15) filling in at a position desperately needed
Also, I wear a Kreider sweater to the Garden, so I was not happy seeing him leave.
    2) Artemi Panarin wanted to go to LA. With his NMC, Drury had no leverage. If Drury waited until after the Olympics, maybe there’s a higher price paid. So Panarin bringing back anything was better than nothing. He was leaving at the end of the year one way or the other
    3) Othmann wasn’t producing. I hope that the change-of-scenery trade is just what he needs. Bad draft picks happen (too often to this front office) because there’s no crystal balls.
    4) The AHL trade was an AHL trade. You’re worried about losing a 32 year old D-man for a 24 year old forward?
There’s a lot to bag on Drury for and nothing in your photo montage is relevant to that.

  22. Plenty-Being1996

It’s cute that you guys think that letter was talking about a retool and not a full blown rebuild lol. This team is a sorry sack of shit right now. It’s not even a team. We talk about everyone like they’re an expendable piece, who can we move for what. Like it’s fucking sad man.

  23. erniecyou

probably the same guy who was throwing Kreider under the bus

  24. _redacted_001

There’s plenty of logical reasons why you could critique drury, you don’t need to invent things or pretend to be too dense to understand why you’d trade a pending UFA or why a rebuild might take more than one half of one season

  25. Impressive-Wait-9420

Rebuilds take 5-10 years when done right in order to end up with a consistent contender for years to come. It starts with moves like these

It takes a significant amount of patience to see these through, which New York sports woefully lacks. That’s why we rushed our last one in 2019 with the Trouba trade and Panarin signing before we really had a complete team of youngsters to build around

I anticipate this one prematurely ending somewhere within the next three years with a confusing trade/signing of 2-3 players that don’t fit our rebuild contention window, just to rinse and repeat 5 years later when the whole thing inevitably flames out

I don’t foresee this changing until Dolan is gone

  26. Fresh_Geologist_3929

This is a fucking beautiful post. Really.

  27. I’m torn. I really want to hate Drury but we just absolutely deconstructed Philly last night. What if that’s a sign of things to come?
