The Sabres drought started when Lucic leveled Miller and no Sabre came to defend their goalie. The drought ended when UPL came out of the crease to fight Hagel for sucker punching his captain Dahlin. I hope the leafs don’t take 14 seasons to figure out fighting for your captain means something.

As a Bruins fan, I still cringe any time I see Carlo get involved in fights/scrums. He’s had several concussions. He’s also just not a physical player. If you’re counting on Carlo to be the tough guy, you’ve got other issues. Take it easy on him

There is a problem with hockey culture. Well known goon, Radko Guda, with a history of intentionally injuring players is the captain of his team. And he's not the only one. Face licker, Brad Marchand as well as concussion deliverer, Scott Stephens were team captains. In the NHL, these players and others who play dirty are viewed as fiercely competitive and are reward with a C or A on their jerseys. This suggests that the NHL not only condones this behavior but is not interested in curtailing it. Team leaders set the tone for the younger players, so here is Anaheim's leader.

Hey Steve, maybe you should try fighting any nhl player. Telling your team to ignore the puck and fight is real easy in your room full of dolls and pictures. Also, the refs cared more about getting the leafs a win than anything else during that game.

Sharks have been giving up power plays a fair bit recently because any time anyone lays a big hit on a Shark, the team jumps him. And these power plays late in games matter in their playoff race.

Im a Bruins fan,and if ANY Bruin,let alone the Captain or an Assistant Captain, was to get hit like that every Bruin on ice, including the goalie, if it happened in D zone, would 100% be jumping on guy and everyone would be squaring off with someone instantly!!! That is one aspect that the Leafs r seriously lacking!? They've gotta be the softest team in league when it comes to pushback when guys get hit and possibly injured!? U dont wait to see exactly what happened, u just defend your teammates and ask questions later!!? Especially if its your Captain that gets hit bad/hurt!?

This season and this era is a snap shot of this team….. it’s been a succession of Gudas knee on knee hits, so to speak, that this team hasn’t responded to. Of course they weren’t last night. This is what happens when your youth playing hockey was all skill drills so you could look good with the puck and zero physical grit. Zero soul…. Zero heart. And yes you made the NHL but you also have to live with having no real soul….some of these guys anyway. And this isn’t an indictment on a whole generation. Just the Leafs.
