Kings fan here. Auston Matthews is a great player who is a lot of fun to watch. I hate the Ducks. The leafs need to destroy them on March 30th. Time for retribution, that hit was dirty. The Teams are not even in the same conference, no reason for that at all. Gudas should have been suspended somewhere between 10 to 15 games, not 5 games.
I saw Kariya literally stop breathing on ice as a kid. This is just devastating when it happens and real hockey players know better.
Rosehill. Kypteos. Stelleck. Clarkson and few others sa it was a dirty hit. Those guys are experts who actually played in the NHL and spent their careers in the league. I’d listen to ppl like them and this guy here then wanna b armchair GM’s. The can’t leave the Leaf at the door and actually take a good look at the Olay. It was intent. Gudas could have easily went after the puck. Matthews didn’t see the dude until matthews fell to the ice.
Before others say well Matthews really didn’t have the puck. Then wth was Matthews doing in a shooting stance then? Then after the hot. Can see the other duck player has the puck as the puck went to the duck player.
It’s sad some people defend players like Gudas Jst because of who the l player is and who the team is.
This 5 game now will be the most talked about moment for Probly awhile. Also the intentional hit to injure. .
Every REAL hockey fan, and I'm a Habs fan for 54 years should be sickened with that type of hockey play, it is dirty, cowardly, and has no place in a hockey game.
Gudas did not mean to hurt Matthews. He`s not a great skater it looks intentional but it wasn`t…. I blame Matthews for trying to pull back inside when he had Cowan open backdoor.

This is a homer take but George Parros has been one of those players who hate the Leafs and everything they represent. Another is one the most gifted All-star game talents John Scott (insert sarcasm )who openly despises the Leafs. George Parros has ties to Florida Panthers organization. Colton Orr ended Parros' career with a knockout punch that has rocked his world since.
Imagine if it was McDavid or MacKinnon or OV or Kucherov etc etc etc, the penalty would have been much more decisive and Radko Gudas may not lace up skates again. IMO

hockey is a dirty sport i get it, but when its not even hockey plays to end seasons.yeah those players ruin game and g2g..fans dont wanna see gudas wipe up connor or austin or sid intentionally. they wanna see a good hockey game, thats what fans pay for, not a dirty gudas hits or slashes. look.i watched frame by frame that gudas hit on austin. he didnt have to turn INTO mathews LEADING with his knee and putting ALL his body weight CLEARLY into his knee leading him. a defender had more options here if you slow it down. like slow it right down. pivit, block pass, ( as a leaf was also streaking in )( gudas knew that ) he had to make contact in his mind he believed was smartest thing to do. mathews tried to avoid the hit 100%..but gudas wasnt having it. he was making sure to fallow threw aswelll connect..gudas wasnt going for puck. he started driving into mathews leading with his knee. its clear as a day. im not saying dont even do that as a "play" go for the body as gudas did..aswell turning into mathews avoiding it to make sure that hit happened. as a leafs fan and hockey fan to go for "the body" is sometimes the best thing to do. the best play you can do. to stop the player as austin had options too. austin also was in the wrong. if you know your about to get hit just take the effin hit. dont try and move outta it. and because austin tried moving outta it and gudas didnt care if it was knee on knee ( thats the issue ) you need to care. if your wiping a player out and especially not in playoffs and like its not for the stanley cup like its a game not ww3 yet either. even in playoffs not acceptable but more tolerable. mathews shoulda took the hit and it wouldnt have been knee on knee , gudas shouldnt be leading into the body with his knee as he clear as day was and with alot of force.
i was a enforcer on my team back in the day, i know about commiting for the body and no desire for the puck, just breaking the play up and make central contact with the player to stop them , but i never ever injured or even tried to injure a player. did i try to hurt them as i hit them?
yes, of course. but i never would have intended to hit numbers or throw elbows( domi on stevens, both were extremly dirty players ) or like last night lead knee on knee. gudas could have also tried to avoid knee on knee and mathews did but thats what made it worse. because gudas didnt try to avoid that knee on knee. mathews season is 100% done i knew that 100% immediatly after the hit. mathews shoulda took the hit. not try and turn outta it leaving for knee weak and exposed. you cant throw all blame at gudas here, mathews had a leaf streaking in giving gudas less options and less time to think with an already very gifted mathews nvm with a leaf support cast arriving in to mathews side. mathews also need to understand this is hockey, your gunna get hit. with a size your frame you cant expect to turn outta all those hits
had mathews just said ok im getting hit and braced for it..there woulda been no injury or very minor if there was that needs to be addresed aswell. if your gunna streak down middle of ice ( like austin did ) then you need to expect to get hit aswell. and austin also needs to realize that too. just take the hit dude. your 220+ pounds you can take a hit to your mid body and be fine. austin exposed his left knee intentionally.
its like when you got a guy in the corner with puck and all he is giving is numbers. hes gunna get hit on the numbers. you cant blame the defender for that. and some guys will turn last SECOND. AFTER a defender CANT stop to make sure they get hit into their own numbers, so it goes both ways. Just because your the guy on the ice doesnt 100% mean it was the other guys fault. gudas was going for mathews frame
and 100% was going to get it. as a man streaking down middle over and over your gunna get hit time to time. it ocassionally will happen

As usual, the players will police themselves because the league is inept. Gudas will miss a LOT more than 5 games when he gets what's coming. Can't wait.
McDavid went through this. His career was almost over. He got lucky that his body repaired itself. Let’s hope Mathew’s knee can as well or else he will need surgery and that can be career ending.

Radko should have to sit as long as Matthews. That was pure dirt. His stick wasn’t even on the ice trying to get the puck. It was intentional, it was dirty. The NHL needs to deter this with a real punishment.

As a Oilers Fan this is not just Disgusting but it is know also Worrying because since the Ducks are doing Well and are probably gonna make the Playoffs this scares me for the Safety of the other Western Conference Star Players too like Celebrini all it would take is one nasty hit or check and the rest of his Career could be a downfall And for McDavid and Draisaitl Nuge Hyman Bouchard Ekholm aswell just one of these Players out will defiantly prevent them from even making it to the Finals

I'm the biggest laff hater ever, but this is just ridiculous… 5 games for blatantly taking out one of the nhl's biggest stars, even if he was a 4th line grinder it'd still deserve 10+ imo. I'd suspend him for the remainder of the season + playoffs and maybe even a few games next season
Petgrave Gudas needs a livelihood adjustment. Goon code eh Georgie P? F going after any of the young Ducks. Their futures are bright. Gudas however, wishes his suspension should've been the remainder of the season when he returns.
