  1. A brief moment of sadness until I remembered all the pain and suffering he caused my Sabres for so many years. If only he had retired in 2007, my Sabres might have sucked just a little less since then.

  2. Thanks Zdeno for all years we could watch you playing. Forever one of the best defensmens.
Slovakia is proud of you! See you back home.
    All the best for you.

  3. Zdeno Chára is after all 45+ years old so it is not a suprise to see him retire despite he could for sure have continued his hockey career over seas in any European league.

Been a professional player since 1997 = 24 NHL seasons + 2 AHL seasons + 1 KHL season + 1 SHL season + games in Slovakian league and Czech league so he have had a very long and sucsesfull career. He have secured a Hall of Fame place with all his merits.

  4. A very classy speech, by a very classy man and player. many great moments. but nothing can compare to the 2011 playoffs. especially when Claude made the brilliant move of putting Chara and Seidenberg together. he was an extremely proud Boston Bruin. he was an excellent captain, like the ones before him, like Bourque, O’Reilly, Cash and Chief. now Bergeron. i will always remember that June night in Vancouver.

  5. Legend! Miss seeing him as Bostons enforcer, great solid D man and awesome captain. Great career Z and look forward to seeing your number (33) in the rafters. Their will never be another!!!

  6. Big Zee – you will be missed. You are truly one of a kind. You made Slovakia and the city of Boston extremely proud. We will always think of you as an elite player who always brought your best. You worked hard, carried yourself as the consummate professional, and led this team when they needed you most. It was a pleasure and an honor to watch you for all of these years. Love to you! Enjoy retirement.
