I’d be pissed too when they were front runners to getting Quinn Hughes, but Yzerman didn’t want to pay the price like Guerin did. Hughes would’ve changed the entire Detroit offence just like he did in Minnie and VAN all those years. Minnie is arguably lighter at centre than DET, and look at what quinn did for that team! And on to the fact that this was Yzerman as chance to make up for not drafting Hughes when he was RIGHT THERE, and was by then well known locally in the Michigan/Detroit area.
Larkin has had little to no help driving the offence, I can hardly blame him for their lack teams lack of success. I’m sorry to say it, but unless Detroit can get a decent package of players back, losing Larkin means back to rebuild….not starting at scratch again, but they should prob think about trading some veterans for good prospects and trying again in the next 2-3 years, the east is just too strong rn.
