I don't think we should take Ryan Lin at #3 overall, but if we can make another trade by sending out DeBrusk, EP40, Hronek, Boeser, etc and get a 10-15 pick, maybe Lin will land there?
The only issue I see is comparing to and hoping the Ruck Brothers turn into Sedin Brothers 2.0 Are we drafting them because of nostalgia and copious amounts of hopeium, or because they are strong with and without the puck. Nostalgia does not win games, let alone a series. I hope they turn out great and are difference makers in the NHL, but I would be leery of drafting them purely for nostalgia for a time long since passed.
People are mad we want to take Malhotra at 3rd OA. Imagine they go with Lin hahaha
I would draft a center named Malhotra at #3. Generally, I would always draft a good big player over a good smaller player with the exception of an obvious fearless smaller guy. Rypien, Benson, Marchand, Stankoven as an example. I often read/hear how the game has changed, as far as knuckle draggers, fair enough, however, I would always look for players in the mold of Olivier, Tkachuk brothers, Claude Lemieux (RIP) essentially players that will do anything to win.
DeBrusk to Philly to help their ailing PP for their 1st (21st), then trade phillys pick to Boston for their 23rd, right beside Minnie’s 24th. Boom.
You take Malhotra at 3rd, then use the 24th Minnesota Pick for Markus. Once somebody takes one of them the other teams won't bother 'cause they don't wanna be split up, so you get Liam at 33rd.
Carels, Ried,Maholtra,Verhoeff will be the guys Canucks will take one.
If we could flip Hronek to NYI for 12pick (draft Ryan Lin) & Cole Eiserman – do it!
