They are quite pathetic, just not as pathetic as some people think that they are.
I put down two deposits for full season tickets yesterday at the new arena in Tempe. Most hockey fans in Phoenix have the Yotes as their "B" team, since most are transplants from other markets. I'm a Wings fan, but still love the NHL. Most games in Glendale had close to half of the crowd wearing jerseys for the opposing team, no matter who the Yotes are playing. So if you're a Bruins, Leafs, Rangers, or Caps fan in Phoenix and you want to see your team the ONE time a year they play in the desert- you're gonna have to come to people like me.
Name me any pro sports franchises in any sport that has relocated in the last 40 years. If they had as many endless chances as the Coyotes, there would be no such thing as relocation in sports.
Going to wait and see how games look, it seems possible that this leads to a light at the end of the tunnel. Truth is they needed to get out of Glendale.
Its not the Coyotes that are pathetic, its the NHL (or just Bettman) asbolutely pushing for the team to stay there, when its not financially viable.
Wait, you lost me when you said the Arizona Coyotes have fans. They should call themselves the Coyote Uglies
The franchise needs out of there, and back to Canada, so to make it happen we gotta get rid of Gary Buttman.
I was fully prepared to roast you for falling for bad reporting, but it seems like you're more honest than Athletic reporters.
Surprisingly good video for someone not in this market and very much not a Coyotes fan.
An actual poverty franchise
The problem is not just this article. Katie Strang and Sean Shapiro have a history of of doing the to the Coyotes. So it them not just making enough phone calls this one time. They do this every time. So in someway I can see why everyone thinks that hockey doesn't work in Arizona. Thats because that's all they ever read. You never see what they are doing right or the thing they are doing to fix a problem. For example, Lego mentioned the Coyotes haven't drafted well. Thats easy to explain. The reason why is from when the League owning the team all the way up until Doug Armstrong came in. The coyotes had one of the smallest scouting departments in the league and it's been like that for years. But Armstrong convinced the building up the scout department. Instead of going out and signing free agents. No fans? Well not true, if one looks the last time the Coyotes finished last in attendance was in 2012.
I'm already on the Arizona bandwagon 🙂🙂🙂
If I were going to buy an NHL team from a country like Winnipeg I wouldn't move it to a city like Arizona. A state like Seattle would make more sense… But, ARIZONA?
Yes they are, why change theyre logo and it’s not allowed to play it, stupidest thing I’ve ever heard
Just move the coyotes to Hamilton
1 – Super Hans was right: “No logo on the foam!!”
2 – It isn’t as bad as it sounds, but it’s still just about as much serial ineptitude needed to justify a side-eye response.
3 – the Yotes have a history and hardcore fans in their fanbase…..unfortunately, this doesn’t stop my assumptions that SLC would have a better shot a profiting and be more palatable.
Call them what you want they will always be my favourite hockey team of all time love the coyotes even in times like this let’s go yotes!!!
Why they don't play ont the ahl arena
Wait fans like pearl I'm shocked
The way he kept calling it jila river arena
This team should be getting ready to move to Houston and completely rebrand. When did a Coyote game ever feel like a Coyote game? It’s a game for fans of opposing teams.
Yheu should relocate to qubec
How pathetic is it when they beat your team
They are an inappropriate misbehaving team though. The billionaire scumbag owner walked out on his bill to city of Glendale, which is what put them in this position to begin with. Now they are a guaranteed financial loser (the ASU Arena will probably be closer to 3500 full capacity once all the necessary and contractually obligated upgrades are made) who are being subsidized by 31 other teams who are at least trying to make profit if not actually win games. I hope that who ever gets contracted to do the work on the ASU building and the mythical future home of the coyotes get all the money up front.
It's still better and a "Good behaviour clause" is pretty standard. Just overall, the entire fact it is happening itself is an entire embarrassment for the NHL. A (after renos) 3,500 seat arena for an NHL team where they aren't a primary tenant (second to a non-professional team) and this was after them having money issues and now are trying to sell seats for hundreds of dollars to try to make back even a sliver of money. For context: I have a QMJHL team in my home city. Our arena is larger than theirs's and it isn't even the largest in the league.
Add the entire context of what has happened in Arizona, it is frustrating, not just for the Coyotes fans, but for other hockey fans seeing their team play in a tiny university arena when they play against them. It's frustrating for fans in potentially viable markets without teams and having NHL ready arenas just desperate for NHL hockey to come to their city or return. Then they see this team struggling to get fans in during the season, be kicked out of their arena, losing money, a prime candidate to be relocated and yet no, they're kept in just because of vague ideas of "We need to expand the game south!" Like move the team! I feel for the Coyotes fans that are still out there, but really what else makes sense? They have this agreement for a few years, then after there is no guarantee they'll get an arena agreement in the state. Are they going to play in ASU forever?
Can the owner of the Rockets just buy the Coyotes and relocate them to Houston, both the owner of the Rockets and the commissioner of the NHL has said that they want a team in Houston
The nhl would make money by moving to Quebec, but buttman hates canada
Can this team just go away already??? Dude this team is like a barnacle you can't scrape off the hull of the boat.
The smaller venue will attract visitors fans. I would love to catch a game there!
