  1. Changing of the guard over the next five years. Up and comers are Buffalo, Ottawa, Detroit, Arizona, Anaheim and LA. Those facing an inevitable slide include Pittsburgh, Boston, Vegas. Only so many teams can be good at a certain time.

  2. Adam's looking for a veteran rightshot defenseman maybe two
Top UFA goaltender may over pay for a short-term 3 to 4 yrs.
2 veteran forwards with grit and speed pay short term contracts.
1 center men take important face off to work with and teach young guys
Must be good in locker and great teammates
Me I would make hockey trade for young defenseman ready for NHL that's waiting for their opportunity
    Wishful thinking Brent Clarke.
Should be a fun off-season 3 # 1 draft picks don't see them playing for the team next 2 years.

  3. Biggest issue and problem that needs to be solidified is Goaltending. They need a legit starter and a good backup. UPL looks shaky in the minors but looked ok up here In Buffalo but I'm not sold on him.. I know the blues can't keep both Binnington and Husso and with Binnington playing in the playoffs that could persuade Husso to be available. sabres need a Right shot Dman. I'd love them to sign Josh Manson when the season is over with he is a top 4 Dman that could Solidify the Top 4. I see the Sabres signing Vinny Hinny but that's it. Olofsson needs to be traded he's a one trick Pony and isn't consistent enough and is really a PP specialist. Sabres need 2 better wingers to help Centers like Cozens Krebs and Mittlestat..

  4. I see Washington, Pittsburgh and Boston beginning to fade as they are getting significantly older. Plus the Sabres can make some really nice deals to take salary from teams for a price. Oh yeah 8 first and second round picks in the next 2 season that can used to acquire a piece or two and restock the pipeline.

  5. Been a long time since the Sabres had a fun team to watch. Now they do, progressing well, future looks bright. They have lots of picks to help complete their off season shopping list. Top of that List would be a goalie. Much as I like Anderson, he is getting up there, and if does return, should be as a back up. 2nd on the list would be upgrades on Miller and Butcher. Granato not getting the credit he should be getting. Team was a mess before he came on the scene.

  6. Personally tage could be like William karlsonn going to vegas finding luck i think a bridge deal is a must but its with risk

  7. Next year the Sabres will hit 85-90 pts and just miss the playoffs. 2024 is the return. This team is going to be really tough to play against. I see smaller forwards with an elite transition game able to get in tough spaces anchored by gigantic hulking mobile defenseman on the back end. Do not sleep on Mattias Sammuelson he's the next Jack the Ripper. 6'4' 227 and can skate. He might not snipe twine much but he will paste your face into the glass. You also got a few pterdodactals in Thompson, Cozens and Tuch playing forward. Krebs, Quinn and Peterka are going to be fun to watch. Rosen is the key to the whole thing as he was the 14th overall pick last year and he's kinda not done anything yet. He weighs like 120 pounds too he needs some McDonalds but I hear he's as fast as a Boering jet. If Levi turns into the G.O.A.T watch out. I want me some Frank Nazar 9th overall. Hell trade 9,16, and 32 to get Cooley. Trade Oloffson for a right shot dman we need one of those. Take a shot on Ryan Merkley. Oloffson can have fun with his other Sweedish lads in San Jose like EK and Ecklund. Matt Dumba would be good for the culture here. He likes to shake hands after sniping twine. Keep up the good content Mr. Top Shelf Hockey guy

  8. San Jose is looking to get out of Burns contract.

3 years at 8 million. I'd take that on, if it's about teaching and developing Dahlin and Power into Elite D-men… I'd take it even if her is 37.
I'm sure you could get a couple picks also to take it as incentive.

Might have to do some bridge deals on some of the RFA's or see if they can pick up some league minimum veterans.

If I'm buffalo I bide my time and don't have high hopes for a couple more years yet.

  9. I had all types of dreams of the Sabres making big free-agent moves or using draft capital in a big trade but after listening to KA none of that seems likely except for a goalie FA – I'd expect to see Quinn and Peterka in the lineup – it seems that most of he improvement is going to have to come from player development – for the Sabres to make the playoffs like this almost everything has to go right, they'd have to hit on the right goalie, stay healthy, see a lot of their young players develop and their older players maintain.

  10. They need to get a goalie for a 2-3 year deal, 2 bottom/mid 6 forwards and maybe a top 4 dman. They need to improve on their physical side of the game. Dead last in the league in hits by hundreds

  11. If the Sabres don’t add a true #1a type tender like Husso on a 2-3 year deal and add a solid top 6 vet scorer from a high salary team like a Kadri so some of these kids can play down a line like they need to for a few years, then this team will continue to be 3 slots from a playoff spot. Just look at the Rangers. All their prospects are playing on their 3rd line, not their 2nd line! Every year wasted is a year where everyone’s contract value rises and the fans do not sit in seats. Wake up management! The time is now to overpay $ for winning instead of taking high round picks to eat some other team’s salary cap to get to a cap minimum.

  12. Don granato is coach of the year finally giving use excitement here in Buffalo New York he got so much out of the talent he had here he also eliminated Rasmus dahlin from the draft bust conversation he had a great year

  13. Sabres definitely need a veteran blueliner to pair with Power. Maybe make a trade for a D-man such as Scott Mayfield or Matt Dumba. Also, a player like Radko Gudas is needed to add some toughness into the lineup.

  14. You didn't take into consideration the number of prospects that are excelling in Rochester. The Rochester Americans are on a roll in the Calder cup playoffs. Guys like Quinn, Petrerka, Ruotsalinen and of course Krebs are playing great hockey and could be ready to make the jump to the big club. UPL had been playing well in net but he got hurt in the first playoff game vs Utica so the goaltending issue might be addressed in free agency or trade.

  15. Sabres had the 5th most man-games lost due injury last year. Long stretches using the 5th-6th goalies on the depth chart (ECHL guys) really affected the goals against. Even after trading Eichel, Tuch was on injured reserve, Krebs was in Rochester, Mittlestadt was out, Olofsson still recovering from a wrist injury that severely affected his shot. The big turnaround for the Sabres happened when everyone was finally healthy, including Craig Anderson, and they were able to field the roster they've wanted to all year, from early March and on. They finished going 6-2 with Power in the lineup and I would put money on his partner next year being Jokiharju.

This is the 23 man opening-day roster I expect for next year (* with UFA resignings):

F: Skinner Thompson Tuch Cozens Mittlestadt Olofsson Krebs Quinn Peterka Hinostroza* Okposo Asplund Girgensons Hayden*
D: Dahlin Samuelsson Power Jokiharju Bryson Fitzgerald Pysyk*
    G: Luukkonen + (unnamed offseason G acquisition)

  16. Subban will probably be back as well as the ahl third string guy. He made a really good impression on the community and it would not shock me if they keep him around at least for a 1 year deal

  17. I expect the Shares to make the playoffs and knock the Leafs out in the first round.

  18. Checking out Tage Thompson's stats has given me hope that one season Kirby Dach will put it all together and score 30 goals.

  19. Lian Bichsel. I don’t care if the Sabres take him in the draft at 9 or 16 as long as they take him. Big, physical, left shot D who is built for NHL hockey in May and June. Hard to play against, won’t join the rush or quarterback the power-play but still, Dahlin and Power have those minutes locked down. Old time hockey player, I think he plays in the NHL in a limited role the year after next. This kid is pretty solid on the back end and a guy you might be able to trust on the ice, late, holding a lead. Could be a really nice piece for us about the time we’re ready to play deep into the spring again…

  20. Holy crap. Actual well thought out, insightful analysis on the Sabres. Thank you. Rare find on YouTube. 💯 looking forward to more videos on the Sabres later in the summer after the draft and FA

  21. Craig Anderson seemed to have found the fountain of youth, and appeared to be a good mentor not only for the other goalies but the entire team. Its to bad he got injured and that is the only worry going forward with him, thats if he still wants to play, I would have no problem with him coming back to share the net with UPL I don't see a big splash in free agency regardless of the cap space they have, I'm sure some good, reasonable, guys will be available to fill out the team and keep the build going in the right direction.

  22. As a Buffalo native this is the most excitement I’ve had for a team since Eichel was drafted. I’ve seen Quinn and Peterka multiple times in Rochester and they are going to be legit wingers at the next level. Regarding Free agency I would love Fleury on a 1-2 year deal to add more veteran presence, Manson a RHD currently on the avalanche great two way player who would pair well with Power, and one of Nino Niederreiter or Max Domi to add some talent and grit that this team needs (plus it would be cool to see Domi in a Buffalo uniform considering how many scraps his pops and Rob Ray had).

  23. I think Samuelsson is the Sabres best defender currently. Certainly not offensively but on defense he is phenomenal and in my opinion EXTREMELY underrated. That is understandable though considering it was his first year in the league… but that left side on the defense is really exciting.

  24. Olofsson is the reason that they did so well on the PP so how are you even going to give it a thought that he should be part of a trade unless you package up and make a trade for one of the Tkachuk's

  25. Leaf fans wanted to jettison Jack Campbell all season and now Jack’s a UFA. Sabres have some cap space to make an offer!

  26. UPL had injury problems , was good at times but inconsistent as well. If he stays healthy and plays well through the first part of the season then yeah he may be ready

  27. Buffalo didn't make progress this year they haven't made progress in 11 years
