Which player would you target in a trade if you were the GM of the Buffalo Sabres and were trading Jack Eichel?
Jack/His agents have just been making Eichel harder to trade since his end of season presser last season. It honestly feels like if he would just keep his mouth shut and stop acting like a brat a deal would have been made already. They lessen the return, which if Buffalo doesn't get what they want a deal isn't happening, and it creates an image of Eichel that he's not easy to work with off the ice/a bad attitude. Which if it's obvious to fans then NHL GMs/Front Offices are thinking the same exact thing.
At the end of the day this is just how the NHL works, and the only person who signed that contract is Jack Eichel. If he needs surgery that bad and it's ruining his quality of life he could walk away from that contract any day. I don't think the problem is that serious after his camp came out last month and said how "he's feeling great working out on the ice and in the weight room." It's more just Eichel using this as his way out of Buffalo, while keeping his $10 million each of the next 5 years.
He may want the surgery but Buffalo was right not to have him rush into it. Trying to rehab the problem and seeing if that helped was 100% the right move. Rushing into any kind of surgery is idiotic, but we're talking neck surgery that has never been done on an NHL player before. Both those things are huge red flags when you didn't even try to treat the problem to begin with. Which Eichel was told by multiple doctors, until he traveled to a doctor that he knew would give him the answer of – he needs surgery.
I’m pissed off.
Oilers should pick him up on free agency, let him go on Ltir, have his neck surger, not have a cap hit, and bring him in for the playoffs… Like tampa did last year with kucherov

I use to feel bad for Eichel and really wanted him to succeed, but all this guy does is bitch and whine about everything and he’s not going anywhere until the GM Adams gets what he wants in return. He signed that nice hefty contract extension and now you’ve gotta eat shit and deal with it. Pardon my language, but Fuck him the Sabres are better off without him

For get about Jack, if he has a reason to be anger at anyone the is the players association who agreed to put in contract that the team makes the choice of care. And the players agreed to it.
