    Teams that are depending on other teams winning or losing, to decide their own fate… Don’t deserve to be in the playoffs in the first place anyway… Tighten up your skates and play better… There’s always next season

    Playoff team if we had Bruce two weeks earlier. The Aquilini's waited way too long to can Benning and Green. Cost the Canucks and us the fans a playoff spot!

    Clearly we can't expect to be on the same pace next year if Bruce comes back, but with a few changes and cap relief, certainly playoffs are more than possible. We were on that "new coach high" for much of Bruce's run and we saw what the team really was after we came back to earth. It happens. I still think Bruce is the right guy to coach this team, but some roster changes definitely need to be made, and playoffs just aren't good enough. We should want to be a contender, not just the team that finishes in the last playoff spot in the West. Bruce is the right coach. Now we just need a few more of the right players to get the job done. I like the young nucleus (the under 27s), but anyone over that age should be considered expendable for the right price. Obviously you're not giving up a roughly 100 point player for nothing, but if someone shows up offering a 1st, a prime prospect and another very good player, I think you at least look at it. A young D man with upside who can possibly jump in next year and play minutes? Sounds good to me. Especially if we can unload someone like Tyler Myers without any salary retention. I think if we got offered a 3rd round pick or better, it's time to bid farewell. The guy is big, but he takes too many bad penalties at the worst possible times and he's slow as molasses in January on most nights. For a 3rd and no salary retention, I'd look at it.

    Now that Martin is proving to be an nhl goalie we should look at trading di pietro and package that myers contract. looking like we have our 1-2 tandem for a while now.

    The craziest thing is that we would have had to beat Calgary, Minnesota, and Edmonton to make the playoffs. We would have had to close out the last 12 games with an 11-1 record, as I had feared around the end of March when they started slumping that week.
