without nylander in the deal, i don't see how you can come up with proper value for kane and make the money work.
Ideally, I would want to trade muzzin to make the cap hit work at Kane's 50% retention. This would also allow Sandin to fit, or at least clear a spot for him. But obviously we would have to sweeten it with a first rounder and Robertson at minimum. The leafs could leverage the blackhawks if no one is willing to trade more than what I just proposed. But this would be at the trade deadline, seeing as the hawks wouldn't trade Kane until they can get maximum value for him. At least that's how I see it. Then again, Sandin should be signed before training camp, so probably will not be able to trade for Kane quite yet. But I really want to see what Sandin can do next year, I think he's a stud!

Leafs need better defending of any kind. Patrick Kane will not solve this team's issues. For the sake of Leaf fans' sanity, I hope they don't pursue this deal. It will cost them heavily for years to come.
For what it would cost and the repercussions on the team for years afterwards… it's a hard no for me. Do we REALLY want to prove just how little we've learned these past 5yrs by creating even more of an unbalanced team that's so top heavy that it just crumbles when crunch time comes?

As a Leafs fan I don’t want Patrick Kane considering how much we’d need to give up for the guy who would likely end up being a rental
I also expect his performance to dip off like Toews did last season sometime within the next few seasons, perhaps even next season

I say yes. At this point who cares what we give up. Try anything. It’s a cycle, That eventually we’re gonna be trading our good players to rebuild. Most teams do it.

As for Patrick Kane, if he signed with the Leafs next season to a reasonable deal, and that encourages Matthews to sign an extension, then I would support it.
As for this season, they have work to do to become competitive for the playoffs. They're a very nice team, too nice.
A suggestion for a video; is Keefe a good enough coach to win in the playoffs?
If the coaches were switched last playoffs, would Jon Cooper still win? If Dubas refuses to fire Keefe, should Dubas be fired?
We need a Marcus foligno type player or crouse and better dman I would like to see kane with matthews though
Leaf fans are famous for wanting to see stuff happen that is impossible to see happen. Happens every season. Kane is a one-dimensional player, something the Leafs players are known for. I love Kane, he plays for my favourite team, but honestly, the Leafs should have targeted DeBrincat, Tzachuk, Gaudreau more than Kane. I hope he doesn’t go to the Leafs, living in Leaf country it is nauseating to have to deal with deluded Leaf fans every year….the only time I get satisfaction is when they perennially lose out in the first round.
Matthews, Marner and Kane would be a absolutely insane line… but we live in the real world and is just not feasible with the cap. With that being said, our top three prospects are non negotiable, cupboards are dry and with the uncertainty of Matthews leaving, leafs absolutely need very one of them, has to be such a good deal that they cant say no, but we all know dubas doesn’t have the balls to make this trade and win it.

I can't wait for the Leafs to tank and everyone can stop thinking this team is gonna win anything outside of a first round 7th game loss as per usual. There are to many Ego's on this team for them to ever advance further than that. 4 top teams this year will be the same as last year. Canes, Rangers, Avs, Oilers. Pat Kane is going to go to a win now team. Oilers have the best shot because Duncan Keith has been telling Kane how much he believes that Edmonton is a year or 2 from that Cup.
No absolutely not. They don't need a forward who's on his downside of his career. They need a tough physical stay-at-home right-handed defenseman and a couple more bottom six forwards. No to Patrick Kane. I'd rather have Evander Kane.

For him their so I think their will be posabile connect with Austin Matthews & John Travers their will be posabile trade Michael Bunting involve with Alexdner kerfoot or probably Rasmus sandin their will be different better to make new next rebuild with new team that's what I think please give me posted this situation.
I am all for Kane coming to the leafs. It is now or never for GM. If I am Dubas I making the trade. I would throw everything at trying to win now.

He isn't what the leafs need. They need to be like TB and add some grit to support the skilled guys. Leafs have the softest supporting group in the league and they couldn't out hit a old-timers team. They lose in game 7 every year because they receive all the hits and get wore down. Matthews had some big hits last playoffs but not one role player stepped up( maybe Kampf). Engvall, Kerfoot both need to go.
What the heck would Patrick Kane do for the Leafs that Matthews and Marner aren't already doing? Get a couple of bona fide, hard nosed defensemen for goodness sake!! Get those goals against lower! Not to mention Kane's age now as well!
My opinion the Leafs players need to decide if they want to win, with Matthews and Marner they basically gave up in the first round because doubt entered in. All the players from any team won't help if the team itself doesn't have the mindset to win. The Leafs were rumored to Kane, Nichushkin would those players help or just add to the Leafs frustration. Maybe the Leafs need a new GM and possibly a coach. My opinion only. Hey I heard MacKinnon is heading for free agency after this year maybe Dubas should try for him too..
The Leafs would have the best line with patrick Kane with Mathews and Marner on 5 on 5 and power play and can play on the 3rd line with Tavarres and Nylander and strong 3rd line with Kerfoot kubell and Kamp and fourth line with Simmonds Roberston and the new forward from Ottawa what ever his name that can play centre for Spezza.

Maybe it’s just me, but as of right now I don’t think Kane is worth the price, speaking both in terms of assets and cap hit. If by the deadline it’s obvious that they need a top 6 winger and nothing else, and it doesn’t cost the leafs an arm and a leg then I’d consider it.
