There is another solution. Detroit could take on Tyler Myers contract for the remaining of his 2 years, for a 1st or 2 2nd round draft picks. That's 6 million off Vancouver's cap space. Brock Boeser and Bo Horvat need new contracts. If Vancouver decides to trade key players and begin another rebuild. It could be avoided. Vancouver is really close of making the playoffs. Bo Horvat and Brock Boeser need extensions, if you trade away those key players and Miller. Vancouver will be starting their rebuild over. Otherwise, this can be solved by trading Tyler Myers instead.

I don't agree with Dan Rosen. I feel the struggles Brock Boeser has had in the last few years may have actually diminished his value in the trade market, so the reverse arbitration route may actually be something the Boeser camp would accept. If Boeser can be signed to a contract that is lower than what he is owed for the qualifying offer, I think the Canucks should sign him and do everything they can to help his development (foot speed, mechanics on his shot, his conditioning, etc.). I feel this guy has a quiet determination to improve, and his age fits with the core of this group to contend in another year or two, so keeping him on a reasonable deal is actually good for both sides.
Miller has never have more value than he does now. He is a few years off the contending window for the team, so if the Canucks are really thinking of re-tooling rather than re-building, he should be traded in the off season for a RHD, a first-round pick, and maybe a couple more prospects/picks.
I agree with Spector. Try to keep Miller and build a core team around him, Bo, Pettie, Huggie and Demko. He's got another three to four good years of outstanding performance and his winning attitude can bring the younger guys along with him. His "Team first, win at all costs" attitude is priceless. Move Brock and get some young prospects.
There is no one that can replace Miller on the Canucks. They should sign him long term and build around him. The team doesn't need Boeser and I don't see him bringing much in return.

They both need to go if we are ever to back away from the cap hell we are in. By the same token, I don’t want to sign any other bloated UFA contracts. Let’s wait and see what happens after free agent frenzy, see what teams who are exceeding the cap have to do to become cap compliant. There will certainly be good players available, already under contract, when clubs make the tough decisions of who stays and who needs to go to achieve cap compliancy. Erhoff and Schmidt are two such plays that the Canucks have gotten for bargain basement prices that the Canucks have acquired in recent memory
