1. The Leaf look great on paper, however the game isn`t played on paper, you have to play a full 60 min`s, something the Leaf don`t do well.

  2. Don´t you think Rielly gambles too much on the offensive zone? Toronto was ahead when he tried to fetch that puck in the sideboards and got slammed by Anderson. I would suspect the ratio of GF/GA when he makes a play as essentially a 4th forward is probably a net neutral, maybe even slightly in his favour, but when you are ahead on the scoreboard on opening night in Montreal it´s an unnecessary high risk low reward play. And he does this every game.

  3. I`m gonna make use of the quiet comments section for now and try to get your opinion on something else: Why do you think Muzzin and Holl are still being paired? I get Sandin missed Training Camp/Preseason and Liljiegren is out but why is Muzzin/Holl such a safety blankent for Sheldon? It must be the slowest D pairing of the NHL.

  4. My first time on your site. I'm not huge on analytics, so I almost left, thinking it was going to all be blah blah about a million stats. Glad I didn't, because I would have missed your excellent analysis with visuals on the 7 goals. As a goalie myself, I was very unimpressed with how Murray played that 2nd goal by Caulfield. There was no reason to cheat fearing a pass. Had to trust his D, take a stride out, take the short side away, one of the goalie's 10 Commandments. Definitely a tough game for Muzzin, who will now feel the over reaction heat by Leaf Nation. Enjoyed the video, I'll be a regular for sure.

  5. Daily assist for the best breakdown man in the hockey world! Even though Chicago isn’t expected to do anything this season.. Colorado still layer the pipe upon them in the Stanley Cup banner raising opening game 😂😂😂🏒🥅 #GoAvsGo!

  6. Murray looked awful, reminds me too much of Andersen, solid positionally but very unathletic, and even slower than Andersen.

  7. One of the biggest problems with the Leafs is that they play down to their competition quite often. Last year, despite being very close to the president's trophy, they were the worst top team in the NHL to lose to bottom teams in the league – Arizona, buffalo, Montreal, san jose, Chicago, Philadelphia, etc. If they had even won the same number of games against bottom teams as Florida did, they would have actually won the president's trophy.

As a fan, I can't tell you why. Is it laziness? Lack of caring? Has the coach lost the room? Are they too busy worrying about the playoffs and are not focused on the game? That's an interesting conversation.

  8. The Leafs didn't wait long to fall into the same trap they set for themselves over and over again last year: they play down to lesser teams. The team lost far more games than necessary last year and also won a few they didn't deserve based on their effort. This entitlement is so disrespectful to the families who saved their pennies to see the Leafs play live. It's the Blue-White disease and it has permeated the Leafs' locker room for years. It's the one intangible they can't seem to overcome. The coach has no clue how to pull this team up and out of that headspace. There is a tonne of raw talent on the Leafs but these guys sometimes act like some guy with a union job who knows his job security is iron clad. If this continues into December, one of their big guys is gonna have to go; a sacrificial lamb to send a wakeup call to the rest of the team than no one is safe unless you put out every single game.

  9. Murray on the first goal against did not travel more than 180 degrees, as the goal line its self is 180 degrees and goalies in hockey don’t commit off their post like in soccer, see cutbacks and 3 goal scenarios, and it’s closer to 100-120 degrees.

  10. Why was Holl screening Murray?
Why was he on the ice?
Muzzin and Holl pairing last year was garbage and they are back together again, on the ice in the final minute with a tied game, lmfao
That's like Babcock sending Gauthier out last minute to tie it, what a joke

  11. Big Ups to Coach Ryan and Hot Garbage Sports,,,,,we all love the breakdowns commentry,,,,,,we keep learning alot more about Hockey just by watching this channel,, it's like having our own personal hockey coach😎😁👏👏👏

  12. I just want to say bro, good on you for supporting Ukraine with their flag colours on your hat.

  13. Love the analysis, I would have loved playing for a coach like you, thinking the game and explaining are what a coach should do.
For the Toronto fans, it’s 1 game, just seems like 5 because we all love hockey and have been waiting for the season to start all summer.
Watched the games from coast to coast last night, life is great again!
Heading to the Wild season opener, Rangers will be a great game, hoping we can go 3-1 on the home stand with the Kings, Colorado and Vancouver all hitting the Excel 👍

  14. One of the hottest crowd at the bell centre in a while. And it wasn't even at full capacity.

  15. As a habs fan from montreal… Boston v Montreal is a bigger rivalry… Leafs are just sad… like for real… I just feel bad for them… like I don't even mean this in a demeaning way, just feel REALLY sad…

  16. Wrong, brother. The Bruins vs the Habs are always going to biggest rival. No rivalry can top that expect of the battle of Alberta.

  17. This will be the only time I can say this in the 2022-23 season – the Habs are in first place and the Leafs are in last place. What an entertaining game and I'm encouraged that Caufield is continuing to emerge as a genuine threat .. all 5 foot 7 inches of him …
