  1. Benn gets paid 9.5 mill. The beauty of Millers contract is he can be 1 of 3 really good centres. There’s no pressure for him at 35 to be the #1 guy. That will fall of Pettersson by then. Also the workload won’t be nearly as strenuous with 2 other solid centres taking the load off. Having 3 lines with 3 #1 centres will prolong Millers career. I don’t think many understand this.

  2. I have a feeling they signed JT because there wasn't a good trade available and JT signed because there wasn't a good trade available.

  3. Miller is under contract for another 8 years now. In 4 years he'll be achieving 40 points a yr or less. If you think that is worth 8 mil a year, then yes, it's a great contract…

  4. Look at it this way. If management thinks the Canucks will be competitive in 2-3 years – are we better with Miller in 2024-25? Arguably yes, assuming he ages well. It's a gamble of course, like all hockey contracts. But trading Miller for (unknown) assets was a gamble too. And one that obviously didn't offer the ingredients to make the Canucks a better team – or it would've taken place. So there's solace in knowing they made the best choice possible, no regrets.

  5. Can't remember who said this but i head that people colse to Vancouver think this is the 2 sign and trade to get more value but i think he can help for at lest 7 year topd and low end is 5 years but he will help now and if he a 2 liner when there in the playoffs when the rebuild is over

  6. Horrendous contract 7 years is way to long. Paid the same amount as leon draisaitl bahah fleeced the canucks management.

  7. You're still greatly overvaluing a 1 year rental. Miller is 29, any team trying to win now, wouldn't be able to afford to re-sign him anyway. NO team will pay an absurd price for a 1 year rental, regardless if he'a a point per game player.

Eichel is younger, has lots of term through his prime years, and also point per game player. There is NO WAY you can realistically expect a team to pay even close to what they got for Eichel for those reasons.

Please stop calling him a "100pt calibre player" because of one season. Point per game, ok. 100pt? That like calling Krieder a 50 goal caliber player.

  8. It's a tradeable contract if he starts strong and, stays healthy…… But, if we are in contention at the deadline a very valuable asset great move

  9. I feel like this has to do with ownership. I think extend miller and make some money for the owner by having some playoff games is part of the plan to maybe earn a OEL buyout whenever he looses his jump.

  10. It's rare that these types of signing turn out well… Older players that are not elite or franchise types on long term beefy contracts tend to hurt the team long term… so I think it's a risky contract

  11. One minute Canuck fans are wringing their hands about Miller unsigned, the next day second guessing. Sheesh!

  12. Conor Garland would be a nice piece to trade for a 1st or 2nd round pick and cap space to re-sign Bo Horvat to an extension.

  13. Resigning miller opens the window for the Canucks to compete for the cup.

  14. I feel the deal itself is a fair one for both Miller and the Canucks (not to say that it almost certainly would not age well), what I have a problem with is that the Canucks brass were telling us at the end of last season that this team was not good enough, and yet they went out and re-signed the entire core for a reprise. And they will likely preach to us now that this team can contend and win… I don't think the additions of two middle six forwards and two fourth line players without any upgrade to the blueline would do the trick though, so I just want to know how the Canucks brass honestly feel about this group? Are they content just to have this team be a playoff team (which I think it can be with a full season under Bruce)?

  15. Patrick Kane Roman Josi Stamkos Marchand Hedman Letang and many more past they're prime and still crucial to their teams. 33 and older..it's all about passion to play. All the greats have it.

  16. yes. we need to have that confidence to say "our focus is winning the cup". That's what we need. Not "we're a focused group and we're going to get better". Eff that. We're going for the cup. That's it. I like that swagger my guy.

  17. Benning's contracts have the Canucks bent over. It could get a little better. But the time is now. Be two years before marked improvement on defense. I think it was the right move.

  18. I don’t hate the deal in a vaccum. Tho I think that this contract locks the Canucks into mediocrity. There not going to be good enough imo to be a true contender. So while the contract is decent, the timing of it is not

  19. Lego you are right. To mention the fact this is Benning all over again. This team sucks. Always will apparently. Bunch of old players on enormous contracts. And who cares if there was no trade market. We had one more year to use him. Vancouver is now locked in to being garbage again for the next decade. It is the exact same move. Sad being a Canucks fan. lol

  20. A really cheap 100 point player that could for over 8 or 9 mil? Please quit your vids ffs!

  21. This Miller signing is a typical Vancouver Canuck thing to do. Vancouver has always held onto players way to long where they can even get a bag of pucks for. I have no faith in this new management team they seem to be all bark and no bite. They say one thing and go against what they said and do the opposite. SO frustrating being a Canucks fan
