This is worse than last year since they want to keep bringing it up as a reason they will turn it around. Last year Matthews was hurt and they had goalie problems. This year the Goalies are stepping up and Matthews is healthy.
Once is a mistake, twice is a pattern, three times is a habit..
What the F is this? Matthews "we had a really good start". What?! In this game? Worst team in the league and they looked evenly matched at best. These guys don't even sound like they give a crap. Where's the anger? Where's the frustration? Where's any emotion at all? Every single one of them sounds like a cliche spouting zombie. WAKE THE F UP!!!
Man coming from New Zealand and hearing these guys talk I wish they would just be straight up honest. Frustrating hearing these interviews. Spezza needs to fire these boys up

Listen….Marner is and will continue to be the best leaf passer, 100 point player in the NHL which is pretty hard to come by, Mathews has been stealing pucks and starting to score and is the best player in the NHL according to the hardware he took home 4 months ago so slow down people….if you're truly a fan then why make it worse but constantly putting the team down . Does that help us win? No. What it does is have our superstars read all the toxic shit everyone has to say which I'm sure is helping tremendously. If we were at the all star break with a 500 record I'd start to panic but I'm not gonna sit here and destroy the most important sports team in my life publicly and further hurting the problem. Franchise records a few months ago with this group and 10 games in and everyone wants to burn it to the ground and go back to 10 years not even making the playoffs doing a rebuild. You think Mathews is gonna wanna resign here if everytime there's a rough patch he gets publicly humiliated…no he'll go to Arizona, make more than he is now and play his career in peace.
So with that being said if you're a real maple leaf fan you wouldn't be contributing to the problem

I mean I like Rielly, but anyone find it strange why he seems immune from criticism?
Can’t say he doesn’t give his best effort, but his decision making out there is highly questionable at times. He’s been on the ice for most goals against this year yet Holl seems like the only guy people want to talk about. Yes Rielly gets the most playing time, but he’s supposed to be the teams best defenceman. Atleast he’s paid that way. And don’t get me started with his powerplay. Does anyone understand why he outright refuses to shoot the puck? He passes it off 9 times out of 10. That’s not an exaggeration either. Actively focus on him the next time the Leafs get a Powerplay. I feel like he has absolutely no confidence in his shot. It’s either that or he is mentally scarred from shooting it off players and having the puck go back down for an oddman rush.
I’d rather Robertson play the point. Atleast he represents a threat to shoot.

NHL at this point is not doing much better than the Leafs are. Everybody, cool your jets it's a long 82 game season. The Leafs will be just fine.

Veteran players coughing up the puck again, again, and again….sloppy, inconsistent game again…..and yes last years start was worse…so what? Thats the past….be present!!! Come on guys…you are getting paid a lot of money to perform at a very high level for 60 minutes and you are not doing so. Players need to sit, get benched when why are playing this way. These guys are playing 20, 22 min a game…lollllll….its not working!!! Spread the playing time out better…Earn it, play with speed, grit, hunger….want it or sit….this is not complicated….10 games in now….some nasty habits…wake up someone!

Is it just me or did Matthews just decide to stay out til there was a whistle in OT… And he probably believes he was right in doing so cause they got scored on after… Though he almost got them scored on 3 or 4 times with horrid giveaways while trying to be a solo hero… He's leaving Toronto no doubt.
