hes fast, big for nothing and stone hands
no friggin swedes ? yea.
Good. I hate the idea of giving picks away for cap. Only to fill that cap with similar players
Great addition with Lazar! Try and get Tyler Motte back he's another high-energy bottom 6 guy that can hit hard all year long
Needs to moved Garland now got mikheyev Righside extra Lockwood need Defense for Hughes before he's get old Garland for Marino makes sense for Hughes
I think now we’re gonna deal Miller and Garland for some picks and potentially a top 4Dman
Nothing materialize on D yet, and that is the biggest problem of this team, IMHO. Some of the forwards need to be traded soon to give the team help at RHD. Holding onto Miller will only diminish his trade value as he becomes more and more of a rental without a contract extension that teams are probably all worried of.
Curtis lazar is from Salmon Arm BC so hes not a local kid a local kid would be from vancouver
Way more happy that we got speed bigger grit and I'm hoping to see dakota in the lineup for his size grit and roughness
Personally I think Ilyas contract was a little long .. I feel like that’s a contract Podkolzin should be getting soon . I think he has a year or two left though luckily
Its so refreshing to have a GM that can actually talk to the media and articulate the plan moving forward.
1:50 reporters go from 0-100-0 real quick…… similar to the maple leafs record next year
Its so refreshing to have a GM that can actually talk and not just mumbling and looking all confused while sounding like he has no idea about anything hockey.
The Canucks won this FA-frenzy just by not having Benning as GM, honestly.
TF was up with that reporter absolutely cutting off Allvin smh
Clear the way he expects to go forward, easy to understand this man! Good guy.
The scouting and analytics department has been putting in a lot of work so far, determining what kinds of players the team should be looking for. Now the real work begins being strapped to the cap. All eyes on Miller, Garland, Pearson, Myers as trade bait but I don't think dealing Garland is the right play here.
Wow, how impressive is this guy? Allvin is a breath of fresh air, compared to the babbling in circles of no substance that Benning brought, and the the babbling in circles with disdain for asking ANY questions of his position that Gillis brought. Vancouver have suffered a decade of terrible GM'ing that were UNTOUCHABLE ROYALTY in their decision making (to their eyes! "How DARE YOU question our authority! What do you think? That YOU'RE the ones buying tickets and watching the games? Like we do ANYTHING for you people! Thanks for coming; see you in a couple of months.") This guys GETS IT. Gotta love it!
Special teams struggled last year, particularly the PK. Both Lazar & Mikheyev will help with that. Great start for Rutherford and Co. !!
dude looks like a mix of Jeff Blashill and Paul Maurice.
Canucks free-agent signings Ilya Mikheyev, Curtis Lazar highlight roster revamp ————-
'There's more internal competition and gives the coaches more options and we definitely feel we've improved our group.' — Canucks GM Patrik Allvin.
The Vancouver Canucks previously admitted that being a salary-cap-strained franchise could have meant making just one acquisition in the first day of National Hockey League free agency.
But they made five. And the bottom line is they are a better club — even if the bottom line took a bit of a beating.
Acquiring forwards Ilya Mikheyev, Curtis Lazar and Dakota Joshua, along with depth defenceman Wyatt Kalynuk and goalie Collin Delia, puts the Canucks $2.8 million US over the cap. Keeping Micheal Ferland on long-term injury reserve means they are back above water by treading with only $686,000 in available space.
That doesn’t allow much work around the roster edges, and the challenge for president of hockey operations Jim Rutherford and general manger Patrik Allvin is to move tradable assets. However, they did address a need for more skill, will and bite in the forward group.
“There’s more internal competition and gives the coaches more options, and we definitely feel we’ve improved our group,” said Allvin. “Mikheyev is excited about his role and the players we have in place.”
The speedy, strong and tenacious Mikheyev, 27, is coming off a 21-goal season in Toronto where he played both wings. Lazar, 27, is coming home to add sandpaper and bottom-six versatility after building a bigger grit quotient in Boston. And centre Joshua, 26, is bringing a big body presence to push for a roster spot after playing 30 games with St. Louis last season.
Hard to understand what this team is if you look at it without Miller. I mean if you imagine the season starting with the current roster, it’s a pretty decent group. Subtract Miller and it’s something else again. Have to figure there is not a significant forward coming back in a Miller deal. The remaining forwards are fine, but the most productive guy won’t be there. So this is perhaps the calm before we really see what the future looks like.
The thing I love about this guy is hes actually passionate about what he's doing. He takes pride in his position. When he was asked about the prospects he lite right up.
Mikheyev should turn in to a fan favorite. 31 goals is my prediction. He needs to stay healthy.
He has really grown in his role as GM and is becoming more comfortable with every interview he does.
Mikheyev is going to be a sick player for you guys. Sad he left.
Beagle, Roussel are still available… lol
I love they drafted Elias petterson again! Seriously Vancouver got better and probably make the playoffs.
Allvin talks like a smart hockey GM!!! and we can see from the quality of signings so far… even if for AHL depth… the profiles/quality look real good compared to last summer's!!
Watch out for Dakota Joshua!! finally getting some size & physicality!!
It's quite evident that the fans in Vancouver still have their rose-tinted classes on. History is repeating itself and none of you see it. oh, well… lmao
The more I see of Alvin… the more I like him.
It’s a shame Virtanen couldn’t have become a Micheyev type player… every team needs that speed
