  1. Bring him up for like 30 games. Liek they did with Draisitl. See what happens. If not good enough yet have him pkay in AHL and get some playoff time down there

  2. I did some research. Why did Jordan Eberle become the 60-70 pt player he was in Edmonton and why Rob Schremp became a disappointment. Both Eberle and Schremp were excellent in the CHL posting over 100 point seasons. The only difference was Eberle was willing to improve and develope and Schremp's ego got to him and just got lazy, not listening to coaches. Now I know there are many other factors do play a role on how a prospect turns out, but I think as long as Bourgault is confident (which he is), hard working and willing to improve, he should be fine. We'll see how things play out in training camp.

  3. Expectations are hard to put on these young guys, but the expectation is to push the third and forth line guys no body should be penciled in before the season starts! Like we know you can’t have these rookies get put at the end of bench or in the press box, give them the taste and then have him “develop into a skilled forward”! Holloway will need to impress in order to be a starter but as we know nothing always works out according to everyone “else’s” expectations!

  4. Really really unlikely. Woody doesn't know him. He hasn't played in the Bake with him as coach. He can do well in camp and even exhibition games but honestly I can't see him getting NHL time until later in the year at the earliest. He'll need to put some time in the AHL to learn and grow. How does he handle the speed of the game. It's a lot faster than CHL level. Ken Holland much prefers letting guys overripen at the AHL level as well. Great vid as always. Take care all.

  5. I would look for a cheap veteran for that slot. Bour-Goal needs to be lighting it up in the minors for a year, perhaps 2. I hate it when we rush the kids.

If he has the camp to end all camps and has people asking "Connor who?", fine and dandy; let him stay. Beyond that, let him ripen.

  6. We can only wait and see how well he performs in training camp, exhibition game and if he’s fortunate enough to play a few regular season games. Only time will tell. Confidence, patience and attitude will be important elements at this stage in his development. Curious to see what will transpire. The NHL is a different league what he’s done before will have very little bearing on how he fits in an already strong roster. If he makes our Oilers better bonus but it’s a tall order from a prospect that Coach Woodcroft has no experience with him underneath his tutelage. Xavier needs to impress and that’s a lot of pressure for this youngster!

  7. I think he will start in the AHL but he's not unlikely to get a few games during the season, if he does well there.

  8. I think they will give him some scrimmage games and maybe a preseason game or 2 before making that decision. Woody is a fair man and will most likely give him a chance before deciding what to do with him. His numbers don't lie last year and he's small but not that small.
Maybe he will bulk up a bit at 172 he can just hit the gym and put on some more leg and core muscle and he won't be as easy to push off the puck.
Why trade for another player after they lighten the roster by 1 if Bourgault is already signed and knows the playstyle during the preseason. Give him a chance and he may surprise 🙂

  9. Hard to say how he will do. The reality is he needs time in the minors to develop and training camp should show that

  10. I favor keeping a spot open with our current setup. We have everyone in place, but we have great assets that need to be cultivated. So worst case scenario is if we can graduate someone this year beyond Dylan then we just grab a 3rd liner for the post season push. Not too expensive and not hard to fill either. But the chance to have a young talented player fit for under $1Mil is enormously beneficial and we should be giving them every opportunity to gain a spot. Basically the opposite of what Tippet did 😉

  11. Lets not forget Robb Schremp's last year of junior so fast…57Ga 57G 88A 145P 74Pims and look how well he did in the show.

  12. I'm pretty sure counting on rookies to pull through doesn't really spell "contending team."

  13. I sincerely hope the Oilers never hire the kid.
The constant mispronunciation of his name is cringe worthy.
Go with Zavior, the proper pronunciation or Havier, the French.
I blame everyone who went to university in Antigonish and never learned to pronounce the name.
Please let hiim stay in Quebec.
Have to go. Heading off to my egzylophone class.
p.s. I usually enjoy your stuff.
    Thanks for that.

  14. I like Zach on line one with McDavid and Kane. Yammo has always been a 2nd liner in my opinion.
