Love the idea, only issues I see are Alex Tuch as a scratch, Drake Batherson has always represented Canada in international tournaments, and Nylander has always represented Sweden

Edit: JRob is the best winger on team USA, get him on the top line

I had an idea similar to this a few years ago. I’d love to see a Canadian championship between the 3 different Canada teams. Like a round robin between the 3 where they each play each other once and the top two teams play again to see who wins.

And all the coaching staff also has to be from those regions.

Goddamn. No. Just, no. Countries only. No team North America team, no team Europe. Make it like the worlds and only include countries.

All 4 members of Colorado’s top two D pairings on the Canada teams seems good to me.

  5. Hanifin for team Ontario, isn’t he from Boston?

  6. 2ktx2000

Doesn’t make much sense to me that USA and Canada split but RUSSIA stays intact and doesn’t have to split.

  7. theekevinc

Hanifin on a Canadian team is interesting. (I think you may have meant Hamilton there?)

And I think Russia would have a few KHL guys, including D Nikishin, probably the best player not in the NHL right now.

  8. Krugginator

…no Horvat? Bro do you even watch hockey?

  9. DMYU777

This dude put Nylander in « Canada West »? Lol okay (I know where he was born, pretty sure he never represented himself as Canadian ever)

Also diluted much? Why does Canada need 3 teams? Best on best, not 2nd on 3rd best tournament…

  10. scoutcjustice

I know it’s not really the point of the exercise, but not having Joe Pavelski on the same line as his hockey son Jason Robertson is criminal.

  11. ElDobre97

You can’t just go by birthplace. Nylander is Swedish

  12. buckyhermit

Fowler wouldn’t be Ontario. He was born in Windsor but raised in Michigan and has represented the USA in all tournaments.

  13. CreditStuf

You need other teams. Ain’t no way you can’t have teams like Slovak, Czech, Swiss who have really talented players.

HELL even AU with Nathan Walker and Spence could go.

Other teams: DEN (Ellers, Bjorkstrand, Andersen), Germany (There kinda nice tbh…), Latvia (Team full of Mid NHLers), Austria (Kasper, Rossi)

  14. kovalev23

The ‘scratched’ Russian goalie is better than all 6 Canadian goalies. Canadian goaltending in the next several years scares me.

  15. Ellogovna11

Tage Thompson & Robertson on the fourth line lol oop

  16. goavsgo1988

How is Lehkonen scratched for Finland

Edit: and you completely left off Landeskog for Sweden?

  17. etrain1804

I know I’m biased but morrissey can’t be scratched in this. He’s 2nd in defensemen scoring while being solid in the D zone. There’s no way he doesn’t make 1/3rd Canada

  18. nofakefans18

Bunting and Bertuzzi over Horvat…is a choice!

  19. blablasch

Lekhonen scratched? With KK on the third line?

  20. sbear37

How did you get this so wrong, after putting in so much work.

  21. AlienBlueprint2022

LOL holy fuck I cannot with this level of North American arrogance

  22. avsfan96

    Landeskog doesn’t exist, apparently

  23. conhay_good_sir

Chychrun was born in Florida and did live there but I’m pretty sure he represents canada

  24. OutlawCountryFan

    No Kuzmenko on team Russia?

  25. Dobson is from PEI. Which is not on your list of provinces in Canada East for some reason.

  26. tyrantwalrus1002

A Shesterkin/Vasilevskiy tandem would scare the shit out of me.

  27. MGM-Wonder

If it isn’t strictly individual countries then it isn’t a legitimate World Cup

Was fun to look at these regional teams though, so thanks op. People are shredding you in the comments

  28. notthattmack

Newfoundland exists. Mercer is from there.

  29. FloorImmediate9220

First off, there are other provinces east of Ontario than those three. Dobson (PEI) is even listen on your roster, so what’s with not listening pei and nfld?

  30. rokken70

This is not a bad idea, but there is NO WAY Bettman would allow that much Canada in any tournament.

  31. ianisms10

    1. I don’t like the split of the US teams. Should be Minnesota, Massachusetts, Michigan, and New York vs. everyone else.

    2. Ryan Pulock and Connor Bedard would probably make the Western Canada team.

  32. Zero_Tu

Tell me you don’t watch hockey besides your home team without telling me 😂

    Bro this list is wack.

  33. TheMoonIsFake32

Oh my god Ovi-Malkin-Kaprizov would be a dirty line

  34. totomanne

If you’re going to include Russia you can just scratch Finland for sure.

  35. MadArgonaut

How can there be multiple Canadian teams and us teams in a World Cup? Does every country post as many teams as they can? 😂

  36. Varja22

There is no way that Ristolainen plays over Hakanpää

  37. TheP1etu

I can tell you right now that a tournament like this would fail. Us Europeans simply wouldn’t ever look at this as an important tournament. Why? Because of the gimmicks of having multiple Canadian and American teams and having one big team Europe, would never hit in here.

  38. senior-salvador

    Fuck you, Nylander is Swedish.

  39. CursedLemon

I realize this is just a for-fun exercise but the 2016 World Cup has such a bitter taste in my mouth from being pointless exhibition nonsense that I can’t look at any proposed tournament with gimmick teams and do anything other than cringe.

  40. Kryptopus

This is such bs that I’m gonna block OP to never see this stuff again. KK before Lehky🤣 Arvidsson/Olofsson/Burky before Landy🤣 Mikkola/Risto before Haakanpaa🤣

  41. Asadleafsfan

Maybe I’m just confused and unaware of something but why is it that whenever I see a WCoH hypothetical, there always have to be some weird obscure continental or regional teams? What’s so hard with just using 8 or 16 countries, singular countries like the IIHF? The whole NA/Europe thing annoyed me in 2016 as well.

  42. onlytruking

Put all three Canadian teams & we finish 1 2 3!!
