If they Wild were to trade 24, they would definitely pick up something for this year. Gaining 6 million in cap space, I could see them going after a Statsny for 2 years. Grab assets for the future and also create room for a mid level FA move now. I always thought Calgary was a great spot for Dumba, home town and he plays their type of hockey. Issue is, he’s been injury prone and would need some games off during the season to max his potential. Not sure what Calgary would be willing to give up but that’s another spot potentially. Ottawa and Minnesota have been dancing all off season, maybe your correct on him landing there. Interesting stuff…
I don't think Ottawa goes for him. I somehow continue to think Ottawa will go for Jakob Chychrun before training camp.

I hope to hell Ottawa doesn't go for this. Dumba had a great 17-18 season and then his play fell off. A lot. He is so injury prone as well. This would be a bad move for Ottawa. Moving Zaitsev to a team that wants to win is probably a no go. Plus Zaitsev has a 10 team no trade list. Is the Wild on it? We don't know. You would have to trade him to a team that wants to lose. Like Chicago if they aren't on his list. They need two more defensemen and are looking to trade kane and toews. Even if they retain 50% on those salries, they would still have room because they have the room now even without those two traded. Plus it would give Chicago a chance to grab more picks because they are in full teardown / rebuild later mode and gain some they maybe should have got from Ottawa for DeBrincat. If Ottawa doesn't move Zaitsev, the moves they made this summer won't matter quite as much as they would with even just an average RD on the 2nd pair. Zaitsev can't defend or get out of his zone. He is an anchor getting paid 4 mil plus. I think Ottawa would have a better chance of getting Dante Fabbro from Nashville for RD as it is a bit questionable if the preds will be able to resign him next year when his contract is due because of cap space. He is waaayyyy better than dumba and zaitsev put together. They would have to send Brannstrom and another prospect the other way with at least a 1st rounder and some other pick or picks but long term, this would be much better than dumba in Ottawa's case.
I predict the Wild to regress to below 100 points this year. They may sneak in with a wild card. I know funky the Wild with a wild card man, but I like Colorado, St.Louis, Winnipeg, Dallas and Nashville to push hard in a very tough division. With no Talbot over 82 I think Flurey and Gus will have to be exceptional. Granted the defense they have built is legitimate, and they have a well defined system of development. It just does balance all the way through the line up over the full schedule. Dumba and Kulikov at 50 percent contract value come trade deadline time should fetch a first, second and prospect.
I am hoping Billy G sells him at the deadline to the highest bidder.
Boeser for Dumba or Miller and Poolman for Dumba would probably work out well for both sides.

Contrary to what a lot of casual fans think, Dumba is actually a solid defenseman.
He’s lost a lot of offense from injury and he’s not worth 6 mil but he’s become a much more trusted and conservative defender.
Him and Brodin pair great together.
You get rid of Dumba and our defense takes a big hit.
Our defense is already pretty shaky and you want to get rid of the younger guy over the 6-7th defenseman or the journey man?
Guarin has already said he likes Dumba, and for good reason.
It blows my mind when fans that talk out of their keister say we should get rid of him.
Go look at some advanced stats and compare them to those other guys.
