Hard to judge this trade; the picks might never make it and Heineman might be a bust.

na all the assets that went back are mediocre except that first round that might get us something good
on the other hand that chiarot trade was pure fleece, he wasn't even good for them and they gave us a first round unprotected

i never like toffoli in mtl. dont get me wrong, he scored, a lot. but the guy was a ghost for his teammate. always killing the play and never battling for puck retrieval. he was always waiting for the others the make the play. and then he was well positioned to score. and his dplay upside? hugely overrated. Caufield and Suzuki were way better once he left.

Sorry but a quality NHL 20 goal winger at decent market value is worth a late 1st rounder in a weak draft class. Heinaman (sp?) had plateaued since draft & not even in top 10 for Flames prospects, Tyler Pittlick was a mistake to trade for in first place but irrelevant expiring ufa w/ no impact on Flames & minimal impact on tanking Canadiens. A little rich to say this was robbery
I'm a Habs fan and I was incredibly bummed when Toffoli was traded. However, when I watched the Flames in the playoffs its like I didn't recognize Toffoli at all. He was nowhere near as good as he was with the Habs and not just offensively either. With the Habs Toffoli would look around and notice a spot that wasnt covered and would move to that position just in time to break up a play. I didnt see him do that at all with the Flames. He looked like he was lost with the Flames.
yoooo yes flames lost… thing with toffoli he boosted his covid 19 52 games season with like what 26 goals he did look amazing untill you understood 50% of his goals were vs his former training goalie from the vancouver canucks… last year's season you could tell he was a boosted player and was not the guy we thought we had sadly Calgary fell for it 🙁
It's the nature of the beast for trade deadline deals, you're always going to have to overpay.
As a Hab fan I have to say I loved the trade. Not saying I don't like Toffoli but he's very slow and his prior season with the Habs was a bit of a fluke. I don't think Calgary got fleeced but I feel like Mtl. got the better end of this trade.
Now that Calgary is in the post Johnny era (and they got noting in return), these high draft picks would have at least given Calgary some hope. Short term, it is going to be tough to be a Flames fan.

Calgary knew what they were getting if not well and this can happen to many other teams also. there is no garanties with trades sometimes they work out good but sometimes too short period to adapt to a change of team mates?

Taffoli will be better than any of those guys. Draft picks don't mean anything unless they are in the top 10. Montreal lost a 2nd line winger for guys who will never play. Montreal got fleeced. Heinemen is not a top prospect and never was. Not sure where your getting your info

robbed ? sometimes players change camps does not measn they will play the same with the same sucess? no one was robbed Flames were not forced to make that trade. Tafoli was playing good hockey . Look at Ben Charot playing good in mtl but the change in short time does not give that player much time to adapt to new players. But Ben Charot is a solid D. not a Bobby Orr but effective at was he does.
Heinaman is not top prospect in any way shape or form. 😂
