Could see him being in the AHL most of next year with top 6 role. Maybe getting a look in the NHL later in the year. Hope I’m wrong and he blows the doors off and training camp.
I wouldn't be surprised at all if he made the team out of camp next season.
There were a few other players who saw really early nhl time like ras but they were on the nhl team for due to options of where they could be sent rather than earning a spot. (Ras couldn’t be sent to ahl and was too good to go back to tri-city) I think kasper gets similar to Raymond. Projected for GR but can earn a spot with a good camp just like Raymond did
He’ll be playing full time by this time next season
Question is if Larkin does get resigned, is Marco good enough to take the no.1 Center spot in the future?
I can't dig up sources right now, but I'll say why I think it's a bit cheap to point to the similar levels of per-game production between Raymond and Kasper.
Lucas Raymond was getting the "standard treatment" that young players in the SHL get – they're there for development, and so don't get much ice time. Kasper, however, has been breaking out of that mould, seeing top 6 minutes as opposed to the 10-12 minutes (maybe) that Raymond was. Production is obviously different between winger vs center, and I see the fact that Kasper is getting these kind of top 6 minutes as a huge signifier that he's a quality center, but I think looking at the similar levels of point production per game isn't quite a fair benchmark to hang that opinion on considering the difference in ice time.
Kasper will be given every chance to make the roster but I'm with others here who think he's more likely to be in GR at least to start the season. His versatility in being able to play across the line should ensure that he gets called up. As for the Raymond comparison I'd rather not make that because Raymond was playing limited minutes on a stacked Frolunda team whereas Kasper is getting good minutes on a Rogle team that's been struggling this season. You could argue it either way I suppose. I'm excited to see what he's going to bring though and Wallinder will be there with him too
It's gonna take more than 1 shl journalist to convince me but if he has the same production as Raymond and can play in the AHL then he should have no problem making it to the show sooner rather than latet
I hope Kasper can play in the League next year, he seems like he's mature for his age and plays a cerebral enough game to translate. Seasoning in the AHL wouldn't hurt…it seems like Berggren should've made the team out of camp this year too so who knows what will happen.
If he's ready, you'll see a better Detroit the nimble finess type players adjust to the smaller ice fast cause its to their advantage, you won't here that I'm adjusting to the different surfface excuse from Marco.
it's not hard to make the wings they suck lol
If Larkin departs, (and or Bertuzzi), by all means Kasper is ready to step in. Right now they have Copp, Veleno, Ras, LW/C Fabbri.
Been some new posts on YouTube of Kasper he is getting better and mid range scoring. Last year it was up close jam ins and on the move slappers. He is finding a way to create space and generate offense.
I bet Kasper makes the team and starts on the wing in a PK roll, but after year 1 Kasper goes to center and bumps copp to the wing. Trade ras or veleno?
