The penalty kill has not been nearly good enough without Muzzin, so I'm thinking that's why Dubas wants McCabe and instead of Lafferty I'm hoping that Kyle is looking at Domi to help with the powerplay, which has disappeared in the playoff series deciding games over the past 5 seasons.

I have a question , at what point of time and in what alternative reality did Kyle Dumbass somehow get "Next year"? After 4 years of "We're going to run it back one last time "why are these guys planning his next year ?
How about Jake McCabe and Max Domi? Domi can play anywhere in your top 9 and add some grit, which the Leafs desperately lack. He's also on an expiring 1 year deal ($3M AAV) so he's nowhere near the cost of a Toews or Kane.

Of the 42 retained salary trades EVER where 2mil or more was retained, I believe every single one of them was with a contract in its final year. I think it's ridiculous to expect a multi-year retention of that much money. Teams just don't do it.
..Babcock and Keefe both stated "team is too soft"…other teams indicate the Leafs are easy to play..40 plus million go to players who shy away from the physical and will not drop the gloves…2 or 3 Tom Wilson types and your chances of playoff success goes way up…..without..tee times in Arizona being made now…..

Knies has zero NHL games so I wouldn't be so fast to rate him very high. Teams are calling on him because he has those basic NHL "must haves" – height and size

I'm not fond of the idea of aquiring Toews for his leadership qualities considering the way the team he was the captain of uttered homophobic slurs at Kyle Beach and at best he just did nothing about it and at worst he actively participated in the hazing of a sexual assault victim. I realize he did issue an apology years later, but for me actions speak louder than words and to my knowledge he hasn't done much. Doesn't sound like much of a leader to me.
It's Jakob Chychrun & Lawson Crouse that are coming to the Leafs as a one-stop shop. How do you not see that?
